Who Am I?

I'm an above-average guy who's just searching for his place in the world and a companion to share it with. I had the realization long ago that I'm completely unique, just like everyone else. You could say I'm "normal" or "average", but that's a good thing in my book.

I play paintball, and I'm a member of the open-carry movement. If you're not familiar with it or curious about it, ask me and I'll explain it.

Don't worry though I'm perfectly sane, I even have papers from the last mental institution err hospital that say so.(Just kidding, I've never been in a mental facility, I have all of my marbles...please lighten up).

I have a strange sense of humor, but it's a good one. I will laugh at the strangest things, make colorful commentary and witty puns, and even embarrass myself I love to laugh and love when I'm able to share that gift with others. On the other hand, I can be serious when needed.

I also enjoy working out(yes, I enjoy it, it's not a chore to me). When I'm on the treadmill or elliptical and those endorphins are released, it feels like I can do anything. There's only one thing that feels better than that...

You can find me between 4-6 days a week at the LVAC at Flamingo\Sandhill. I'm a bigger guy, but have slimmed noticeably since I started working out and eating healthier. I love food, don't get me wrong, I will splurge occasionally on something that tastes really good(read: unhealthy) and I'll happily deal with the consequences of my actions.

As far as goals go; sure, I have them :) If you REALLY want to know about them, take a few moments and ask...this is the 21st century after all.

What makes me unique?

Besides a higher than average intellect? I once heard the saying "I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot." That quote is totally me. That being said, I have no problem admitting when I'm out of my league. I don't try and bs people when I don't know/understand something. I love to learn, and consider things from different perspectives. I am a total nerd at heart. I can(and do) laugh at myself regularly.

I'm confident in myself, but introverted. While that may seem a contradiction, it works for me. As Plato once said "A wise man speaks because he has something to say, a fool speaks because he has to say something". Or as my 8th grade science teacher Mr. Hutt used to say "Better to keep ones mouth closed and appear stupid, than open it and remove all doubt!"

My tastes in music are simple; No rap, R&B or polka. I'm alright with most other music. And I can tolerate others tastes...to an extent. I'm VERY open minded and politically I'm a libertarian. I guess that means I'm probably on the no-fly list...CRAP! That's going to make getting to Bora Bora difficult :-(

I'm also an atheist, and I'm open to discussing it, but don't feel the need to "convert" others to my beliefs(or lack thereof). With that being said, I also know that many people have died to give me the freedom to believe as I see fit, and I'll respect that right in others as long as they show similar respect to me.

Who I am searching for?

I have a pretty good idea of the kind of woman I'm searching for. The woman I end up with will need to have a sense of humor to rival my own. Taking things in life too seriously is no way to live. Laughter is a gift we should all give and receive. She'll need to be intelligent and witty. She'll also need to have a good heart, search for the good in people, but she should not be naive. She'll need to be committed to a healthy lifestyle, but not obsessed with it.

Please don't be a militant Vegan/Vegetarian, if you choose one of those lifestyles for yourself, good luck to you, but I will happily eat my Prime Rib as you consume your tofu and soy nuts.

Many people say "I don't care what other people think" The woman that's right for me agrees with this sentiment. She should be trustworthy, and dependable. And obviously, she should have a healthy appetite for sex and be open minded.

Ah, the First Date.

I believe it's more important to get to know a person than spending a small fortune. This is also part of my screening process to eliminate gold diggers and high-maintenance women. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Towards that end, I normally suggest meeting somewhere public with conversation built in. My personal favorite is Barnes & Noble. Lots of room, fairly quiet, and lots of people. From there, there's a lot to talk about. Topics of interest, good books, travel, etc. I'd also be up to going out to play some pool, or bowling(I guarantee there will be entertainment built in here, I'm terrible). Basically, something low key where we can talk and get to know one another. Light off some fireworks(hopefully) and have some fun.

In my opinion first dates should be about getting to know the person you're spending time with, not creating an environment where you feel compelled to impress, and put on a facade to get the other person to like you.
