19/11/09 NYC: Cutting to the chase I'm moved to write:

I'm on this site because it is free, seems benign/harmless and you just never know.
My goal is to have a 'wife'/partner/sidekick/best friend/pal/fellow traveller.
I'll live longer and better, and my life will be enriched by having a partner.
I have a great life. But I believe THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
I almost never go trolling here .......I've met perhaps 20 women via POF. Nearly all were attractive, accomplished, talented/educated, much travelled. Just not someone who would be a good long-term fit in my eyes. Keep hope alive.
I have my eyes on the prize. No flings, three inning ballgames, cul du sacs. Not in my interest at all.
I imagine my partner will be 39-59, taller than 5'4", thinish, have a valid passport, live on the Isle of Manhattan or close-by, independent, free-spirited, and more quiet than chatterbox. And probably very attractive.
One who brings as much to the table as I do. Equals complementing each other.

Are the best already married/in relationships? Thus the paucity of possibilities.
I'm very real, healthy, interesting, clear about how I want to live, all the resources I'll ever need.
Have given lots of time and thought to this part of my journey.
There we are.....I'm told by friends/children/friends of my children that I'm a combo of Larry David, Gene Hackman in 'The Royal Tannenbaums' and my own favorite---Jason Robards in 'A Thousand Clowns.' Read on if this speaks to you.
