About Me
1. I'm really big into expression and love creativity above all else. I enjoy writing and playing music, singing (not that I'm all that great), and listening to music that fits whatever mood I'm in. Going to concerts, music festivals, museums, art shows, and taking in some local color are all great pastimes as well. Oh, don't let me forget to mention that I like being around people. As a matter of fact people watching lets me laugh at life like nothing else can. I fancy myself as a photographer as well and so capturing personalities with the click of a button let's me escape from being me for a little bit at a time. The conversations I get to have with people just because I've got a camera in my hand are often pretty interesting.
2. I'm in a position professionally to do work that I feel helps people. I aspire to be able to bring bring a measure of success to those who may not have the confidence in themselves to push through the tough times that we tend to go through. I have identified a need within myself to help people find and start to do the type of work that will give them a sense of purpose and work toward that end everyday. To do this on a grander scale is something I have yet to really accomplish. I've got the education and now It's just a matter of doing it.
3. I tend to be the most positive person I know. All I put out are good vibes (no reallly). I think this helps people feel at ease around me. It's not good or bad but I genuinely take pride in my ability to listen to people. It's been my experience that listening is a lost art. Well, call me an artist. This, along with the nice wrapping that is my personality is part of what makes me who I am.
4. I've got a bit of an old soul (with new school sensibilities). I grew up on all that Mowtown stuff and so it will always have a place in my life. I tend not to want to catogorize things but some of the artist/groups I like on the urban soul side include: Portishead, Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq, Musiqsoulchild, Jill Scott, Teena Marie, the Ting TIngs, Nina Sky, John Legend, Sade (oh yes),
First Date
Hmm. I don't have a set 'first date' event and it would ultimately depend on the vibe I get from the young lady I'm to go out with. However, I'll say that a date where we can interact and focus on each other is better than engaging in all the nonsense that is often a part of the first date jitters. I hate the whole dinner/movie thing (especially for a 1st date) because you waste so much time in a room where not only can't you see the person you're out with but there's no exchange of ideas or perspectives--no conversation. And I think you'd agree that talking about a movie you didn't like over dinner afterwards doesn't make for stimulating conversation either. So, an art show, trip to the go cart track or maybe even a nice chilled out club or something is great for that initial meeting. Of course, I'm open to input from my perspective date as well.
