About Me
"Whoever lays his hand on me to govern me is a usurper and tyrant, and I declare him my enemy." - Pierre-Joseph Proudhon
I have been fascinated with the concept of freedom lately. Our politicians talk of it frequently, and it is said to be the bedrock of American culture. If you ask any American, they will say "I believe in freedom". If you look up the definition of freedom in the Merriam-Webster dictionary it will say "Freedom: the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action, liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another." Most people don't believe in this concept of freedom, at least not by their actions. True freedom requires sacrifice and pain. You must be willing to fight for your own prosperity and morals. It seems to me that most people want to be governed and want to govern others... most people just want the freedom to be comfortable.
As we age, we change in many ways and the world changes around us. It is those differences that give us perspective on our lives, and the worst perspective is to look far far behind you and see all the temptations that you have passed up due to fear, morality, or social obligation.
