About Me
Personality-
I'm a terminally-shy, awkward, socially-inept fella living here on what is often-referred to as the "Left Coast". My feet and hands are huge, I bump my head on the tops of doorways, and I keep being asked how the weather is "up there".
Not bad for a 1/2 South Korean, 1/2 Illinois redneck, eh?
(Now for the REAL story.)
As you can probably tell from my profile, I'm a Sagittarius which means I've got certain personality traits that are unique to others out there. Here's a recent quote from a friend of mine that essentially describes me to a "T"-
"We Sagittarians are hard for other people to understand. We must be attracted to people [not only] physically but also intellectually as well. Only one won't cut it with us... our blunt sarcastic nature [can be] a little hard to swallow for the sensitive types... We just think toughen up for Petes' sake. Can't you take the truth or a joke?..."
I'm a fairly laid-back person, even-tempered for the most part. I'm more of a listener than a talker (hence the "shy, awkward" thing) but will interject with what will be some pretty insightful nonsense. And trust me that whatever I DO say won't be limited to mono-syllabic grunts and groans either, as that would be an insult to my college degree. I've also been known to be quite dependable and punctual as well- someone to count on when the chips are down and it's the bottom of the ninth inning with bases loaded and two outs.
If nothing else, people have gone onto generally-describe me as "Gilligan... if he were an action hero" or "the mid-thirties equivalent of Frank Drebin (from the 'Naked Gun' movies)". Whatever THAT means.
Hobbies-
I'm a musician by hobby (guitar, bass guitar, sometimes banjo) so my musical interests are pretty broad. My interests can range from country-jazz and blues, to classic rock to post-modern classical music (Bartok, etc.) to some forms of hard-rock and metal (none of that nu-metal crap though). I've also done my share of gigging at various venues in my younger years and have done the music thing for around fifteen years now.
In addition to the music thing, I also dabble in digital three-dimensional artwork, particularly that courtesy of a program called "Poser". I'm also a moderator at a couple of digital art sites as well. I've done the digital art thing since around 2000 or so and also do the pencil-to-paper stuff as well if I feel the need to.
I'm also a car-nut as well and can appreciate a fine automobile. I'm especially a fan of the sixties musclecars, particularly the old MOPARs with big block engines (383, 413/426 Max Wedge, 392/426 Hemi, 440).
I'm a wee bit of a movie-watcher as well, preferring comedies, suspense-thrillers/horror flicks, and action/adventure movies... but I'll watch anything as long as it's not crap.
I also like to hike, bicycle, and otherwise explore various environments when I get the chance, even if it's just within the pages of a good book.
I've got nothing in the way of tatts, opting for the occasional wicked-bad workplace scar or two instead. It's like I always say... "scars are like tattoos, but with better stories".
As far as what I'm looking for-
I'm seekin' a kind-hearted, compassionate, understanding woman with wit, charm, and a sick-and-twisted sense of humor. She mustn't be afraid to partake in stimulating conversation, whether the topic be about personal issues or things of greater significance. Most of all, I'm looking for someone who will inspire me to be a better person.
I'm not looking for anyone who's physically-violent, terminally angry, or (most importantly) incapable of tolerance. Head games and soap opera-ish antics are also VERY heavily frowned upon, as I have no intention of being jerked around by someone who thinks she's the center-of-attention on "As The Stomach Turns". Wet-blankets, wimmins who don't know what they want, and those who feel the need to make people walk on eggshells with their neuroses are also types I tend to avoid like the bubonic plague.
And most of all... NO FLAKES!!! Ladies who can't be bothered to keep appointments as simple as a date or meet-up at a restaurant should keep their particular strain of cooties to themselves. Overly-neurotic types with severe ADHD or with those psychotic, uber wide-open I'm-THIS-close-to-being-a-serial-killer eyes are also pretty much verboten, as I have no interest in waking up one morning only to find a kitchen knife in my back.
Other than that, I'm pretty much open for anything...
*BTW- if you're gonna add me to your "favorites" list, at least send me an email telling me that you did so... that way I'll know and will talk to you. That IS the reason why there's a "favorites" list in the first place, right?*
First Date
This is something that's open to interpretation. I'd probably take my first-date to a decent-quality restaurant for some decent-quality conversation and some decent-quality food. Other than that, I dunno...
Just don't try to get me to help you rob a bank or something, as the whole "Bonnie and Clyde" thing just isn't how I wanna waste my afternoon taking part in. LOL
*UPDATE*
To date, here are my stats for this dating site as far as dates are concerned-
I've been-
- stood up three times in-a-row. - been told to "F" off another two times (once after only ONE email reply, too!). - been given a totally bogus call-back number one time. (the number led to a tractor/fork-lift company... which would be fine if the date didn't tell me she worked in a RETIREMENT HOME!!!)
Man... they shoulda called this place "plentyofflakes"... LOL
