Can a smart, sincere, witty, compassionate, romantic guy find the woman of his dreams on the intertubes? I'll let you know. Give me personal courage and integrity; grace that endures; a light in your eyes; your voice at unexpected hours; and random acts of kindness. I can return them all for the right person.

I'm a practical idealist and socially conscious. I like CCR, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, early Dylan and Tony Bennett, just to name a few. Not into hip-hop, metal or most country.

I love to make others laugh, but not so hard that they inadvertently puke on me and drive up my laundry bills. I can't resist a great hot dog, a medium-well ribeye or cold, sweet watermelon; and I cannot deny it, guacamole intrigues me. I make superb spaghetti and incredible banana-nut bread. The laughter of children makes me feel 40 years younger.

I have worked in media all my adult life, and am retired as a part-time writer.

I enjoy playing Frisbee at warp speed; swimming; long walks in the park; well-written drama and sci-fi; participatory democracy; and helping friends and family succeed. I know as much about domestic movies as Roger Ebert. The five things I can't live without are: oxygen, water, peanut butter, love and gravity.

People say the key to a good relationship is communication. So at a minimum, please have the decency to tell me if things don't work out. Don't just drop off the grid.

I'm looking for my soul mate, the one who "gets me" and who fires my passion for life. Above all, I believe that love is both a noun and an action verb. A noun for an intense, timeless affection. A verb for the act of nurturing each other's growth and happiness. If you've read Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" and have watched "Casablanca" at least twice, you automatically score bonus points with me.

On the other hand, if you subscribe to the "girls-just-wanna-have-fun" theory of human relations, please don't waste a message on me. Likewise, if you've never met a dance floor you didn't like, if you can't wait to go scuba diving off Barbados, if you are looking for perfection in any human being, or if you need a sugar daddy, then keep moving.

I'm more about a good barbecue, strolling with my face lifted to a warm summer rain, watching the awesome power of a lightning storm, lying on the grass under a meteor shower, cuddling with my sweetheart while a movie flickers on the tube, taking impromptu road trips, and holding hands as often as my true love makes my heart beat. I need a relationship that survives eternity and makes the here-and-now magical.
