I figure I have a good 30 years before it is time to start shopping for a rocking chair. If I reflect on how much has happened in the last 30 years there is a lot of living, learning and loving to be done. Now to find the person to do it with!

What kind of match am I looking for? Someone with whom I am comfortable to be me (because I happen to think that’s a pretty good person). I have been separated for 3 years now and soon to be divorced. I have put down dating as my interest but do hope to eventually develop a long term relationship (though not necessarily marriage again). I realize that some men are looking for 'intimate encounters' and may I say, that while I won't judge your choice, it is NOT mine and please do not contact me. I strive to look after my health and hope that you do also. I have some wonderful friends who choose to smoke - but I don't kiss them. I want a passionate partner and someone who is comfortable to show their affection.

I have listed interests - this is not a limitation – it is an starting point. I’m not looking for a mirror image of myself – but for someone I can discover new things with and share experiences we have had. I enjoy hobby beekeeping (only 1 hive at present). I also like hiking and foraging for wild (edible) mushrooms in season, being near the water, swimming and scuba(though it has been a while since I last was diving). I think I would like to take up golf and maybe kayaking - just need someone to do it with. I also think I would like cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

I love to laugh and dance (though you wouldn’t want to hear me sing!) I like most music - tend more towards country, jazz and blues, not fond of heavy metal. I can break into kooky moods unexpectedly and usually manage to pull a few laughs out of groups that I am with. I enjoy socializing with small groups of people but am missing having that special person to share comfortable private time with, and if all is right, develop a deeper relationship.

My children are a very important part of my life and up until now have consumed the majority of my energies. However, they have reached the 'branching out to discover their own lives' stage and I guess that is the signal that it is time for me to do the same. I know that we respect each others' right to do so and that, while we will remain necessary to each other, not on a daily basis. I am enjoying the people they are becoming and I think, in general, they kind of like the person who is stepping out from behind mom’s apron.

I certainly hope to get around to more travel as time allows. Small getaways and family visits will always be important but I also intend to plan for some bigger trips. I have actually toyed with the idea of a walk-about down under – working vineyards between outback camping or diving the barrier reef, and staying in hostels - or some such adventure. This is still in the dream stage but why should the young be the only ones to take off?

I grew up in Toronto so I am familiar with city life as well as small town. I expect to move closer to the city within the next year. I know Squamish seems a bit out of the way for some but the road is now great and the drive beautiful. I also have a car and willing to meet part way and see how things go.
