So after being single again for 3 years, here is what I have learned. I have learned that you have to be very clear about who you are, what you want and what is important to you before you are ready for a relationship. I jumped right out into the dating scene as soon as I was divorced and quickly realized I was nowhere close to ready to be out there. I spent a year not dating at all, healing, learning and figuring out who I was again. Now I am at a place where I don’t “need” someone even though I “want” someone when that right person comes along. For me, quality is so much more important than quantity.

I am so very clear how I want to be treated in a relationship thanks to some very wonderful women who treated me great. I have learned how to recognize red flags very early in a relationship by some others who would never have been right for me. I know how important open, honest communication is to me and will not be in a relationship where it doesn’t exist on a deep level. Communication is more than just words. I know the kind of open, real, connected intimacy that I want. It exists only between two people who are caring, unselfish, giving, sensual and passionate. I won’t settle for less.

I have learned that the vast majority of women online are just looking for a date next weekend. They have just gotten out of a marriage or relationship and looking for someone to make them feel better about themselves. I have no interest in that. I have learned that there are a lot of flakes in this town, but I have also learned that if you put the right energy out there and open your eyes and look for the right signals, there are lots of beautiful, intelligent, real, wonderful women out there. I just haven’t found the right one for me yet.

I believe in Chemistry, Compatibility and Timing. Chemistry is about having that spark, that physical, sexual attraction that is undeniable and is either there or it isn’t. Compatibility is about liking the other person and having things in common, getting along and having fun together. Timing is about two people meeting at a time when they are both emotionally available for a relationship. It’s like a tripod, without all three legs, a relationship doesn’t have a chance to stand up.

I’m a young at heart, single dad of two beautiful children that mean the world to me. I grew up in Louisiana and have maintained those Southern roots and upbringing. I believe that you should treat people with respect. I believe that chivalry is and should be alive and well. I am charming and witty, confident and intelligent. I am an outdoor person and a guy’s guy; love camping, fishing, golf and football. I also have a kind and caring, creative and artistic side. I have always had the desire to learn, grow, and expand my mind and awareness. I am far from perfect, but I am real, down to earth and loving. I am a family man and family is very important to me. I have joint custody of my children so they are with me 50% of the time. My son is 8 and my daughter is 6. They are sweet, smart, loving, affectionate and well behaved kids. I love to cook and I am beyond being humble about my cooking ability…I ROCK!

I hope to meet someone who has taken the time to learn from their past relationships, taken responsibility for their part, are beyond playing the victim and ready for the possibility of a real relationship with the right person. I am looking for someone who is kind and respectful, open and aware. Awareness of herself and her needs but also aware of the needs of others around her. She should be giving and considerate.
