About Me

Hi - I'm Michael, a 'native New Yorker' who lives in Hell'z Kitchen, NYC! I'm an active, fun-loving, gregarious kind-a-guy.

Three of my favorite B's are Bicycling, Backpacking, and BOWLING.

I'm also an outgoing extrovert, who loves meeting new people and trying different things. I've gone skydiving (nearly wetting my pants), scuba diving (literally wetting my pants), & hang-gliding (quickly drying the pants I just wet) -- not that I have a problem with bladder control or anything...

If you own a bike, lets go for a ride. If you own a backpack, lets go for a hike. Or, if you simply want to watch the sunset, let's find a nice place to do so and enjoy the colors.

A bit more about me: I have a degree in Outdoor Experiential Education from Northland College in Wisconsin. Some of the places I've worked with include the Minnesota Conservations Corps, AmeriCorps, Habitat for Humanity, Catskill Outdoor Education Center, United States Peace Corps, and the United Nations. I read, write, speak and teach both Moroccan colloquial Arabic (Darija) & Modern Standard Arabic (FuSHa). I run the largest Arabic Language & Culture Social 'Meetup' in the world, and am a big advocate of local community service.

One of my dreams is to open a bowling center in New Paltz, where I lived and went to school for a short spell in '88, before I got thrown out! (There's a good story there) I'd also like to backpack and bicycle around the world.

First Date

First I'll say what I WOULDN'T do on a 1st date. I Wouldn't want to meet at a crowded bar and sip an overpriced drink while trying to hear what you're saying over roar of the guitar solo on the jukebox.

I'd much rather meet you for leisurely bike ride around Central Park, where we can stop at several of my favorite places (Belvedere Castle, Bethesda Fountain, Strawberry Fields), before taking a spin around the Carousel!

I'm also game to having an initial conversation on the phone to break the ice, but I'm NOT interested in ongoing cyber-conversations, as I'm interested in MEETING someone, as I already know my computer quite well. . .
