About my life and what I'm looking for

DISCLAIMER-- I am NOT like 95% of the guys on dating services. I am not out for a one night stand. I am looking for my match now so I do not have to be on here again when I am 60 years old. I am not clingy, pushy, or insensitive. If we are not a match I will not force the issue. I have met a couple of good people on dating sites, and we have fun together, but I have not found my match yet. That said, read on...

A little about me and my match:

Who am I? I am an ESFP personality type on the Jung-Myers-Briggs typology test. You can do a search if you don’t know what that means. I am honest and believe relationships need to be build upon that most of all. I do not like little “white lies” because in the end they just come around and bite you in the ass. Not even to save myself from an argument do I believe in lying. Isn’t that what open communication is for? If I have to lie about something I probably shouldn’t have done it in the first place.

Everyone that knows me thinks I am a funny guy, but I'll be d*mned if I can come up with a way to be funny on this profile. Ok, here's one. I'm the kind of guy that neither sees the glass as half full or half empty. I see the glass as being twice the size that it needs to be. (Just the engineer in me I guess!)

I am spontaneous. Just this last weekend I up and took off for Door County in Wisconsin for a day long drive and to look at the scenery and have dinner. Didn’t plan anything, just took off and let my car take me somewhere. I am not afraid to try anything once and if I liked it I will do it again. I have even jumped off the world’s tallest bungee tower in Las Vegas. (18 stories tall.) I still have the video and t-shirt to prove it! I think my biggest pet peeve is some one saying “I can’t” or “that won’t work” without trying or making an effort. That just drives me absolutely crazy!

UPDATE: Since I have been on online dating sites, I've found a new pet peeve! Without exception (so far) every woman that contacts me and says they want to meet, then cancels hours before the date. It's getting really old ladies! You all say you want a guy that does what he says, but don't hold yourselves to what you say! (OK...I'm done whining since I'm out of cheese!)

I am a physically active person. I work out three times a week, and walk my dog twice every day. I loved riding my Harley, but had to sell it for my educational pursuit. I feel as though I lost my soul when I sold it, so hopefully I will be able to get another one next year.

Since I have mentioned my dog, I am an animal lover of all kinds. I also love to ride horses whenever I get a chance.

I am light hearted and easy going. I am the epitome of a free spirit. I don’t like to argue and I am a good communicator. I would rather listen than talk as well. Not that I am un-opinionated, I just enjoy listening to other’s opinions first and comment second. I have always been interested in my partner’s thoughts and feelings above my own. This has gotten me into trouble in the past, so I am guarded about being walked on. I am not changing my name to “Matt” anytime soon. I am also good in any social group and find I can get along with anyone. I was a blue collar worker most of my life, but have since changed to white collar with my engineering degree.

I like to watch rock bands in local night clubs, but I do not drink much. I am a die hard Cubs and Bears fan, but will tolerate a Sox and/or Packer fan if you are good natured about it. I usually go to at least one game a year per team.

For fun:
I spend a lot of time walking my 1 year old Doberman puppy. I watch Cub games and Bear games on TV but prefer being there. I spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer and stay indoors in winter.

my job:
I am a Mechanical Engineer working for a electric heater company. I design machinery for new product lines and trouble shoot machines on old product lines and make them better.

my ethnicity:
I am 1/4 Italian. Otherwise, I am English, Irish, and Cherokee.

my religion:
I have a hard time with organized religion. I think the Bible is full of great stories, but so is Mother Goose! I would sooner believe an old woman living in a shoe before world floods and 900 year old people, but that's just my opinion I could be wrong!
UPDATE!:I have recently been reading books on Buddhism and I am now working towards being a practicing Buddhist.

my education:
To demonstrate my drive, I got my B. S. in mechanical engineering after I turned 42. Now that was an unique experience! I am thinking about going back to school this August and get an MBA in operations consulting or possibly (because of friend's suggestions) a math professor in a community college.

favorite hot spots:
I've been to 48 states on a Harley. Been to England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Monoco, Canada, and Mexico. Positano, Italy is my fav. I would love to visit China, Thailand, and Vietnam.

favorite things:
I love Mexican and Italian food. My favorite shows are "Real Time with Bill Maher" and "The Office". My favorite band is Pink Floyd, but I listen to most anything. Long, wet, passionate kisses on the couch. Holding hands when going for a walk.

I'm Perfect, You're Doomed by Kyria Abrahams, The Wise Heart-A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology by Jack Kornfield, and Zen Meditation in Plain English by John Daishin Buksbazen.

my pets:
I have a year old red Doberman named Phoenix that I spend all my free time with. If she could hold up her end of an intelligent conversation I wouldn't be on here!

I am looking for some one that matches these listed qualities. Are you out there?

I don't drink coffee, but I can meet at a Starbuck's and drink tea. I would prefer to meet for some kind of activity. Whether that be a walk, dog park (if you have a dog), mini-golf, or whatever!
