Ah the "first date"...they are always a little awkward, but usually pretty memorable. I think first dates should be when you start to casually get to know someone. So any place that you can have a good conversation usually works well for me: dinner, coffee, beach picnic (love the beach!) and thinking out of the box definitely scores brownie points. I think there's always a lot of pressure on that initial outing, but I think its better to be a bit more casual about it...start out genuine, you'll go far, and then you can pull out big, cool dates later.
