I am originally a Haligonian who moved away to Vancouver for many years. An opportunity to work in an eco-friendly family business brought me back to Halifax ain Sept 2006.

What am I looking for - ok - friendship, dating, and a long term relationship. While it would be great to have a partner, I know as well as the next guy that realistically this doesn't happen when you are searching/hunting it out. The minimum expectation should be friendship - and expanding ones social circle of friends and find others in the community who enjoy doing a wide variety of activities. (And besides... the best relationships always start out as friendships with mutual interests, and see where they go from there).

I'm a social creature, and appreciate the company of my friends. Its great to share good wine and food (dinner parties with soup and fondues) along with the quality conversation of others. And going for a movie and a stop at a local coffee shop or pub is also fun.

I make no qualms about it - I have a good but demanding job at times, and I balance that with being a sporty character to stay active - curling, softball, running and biking are some of my favorite activities (and yes, I make special guest appearances at the gym too).

Things that I aspire to do over the next year (i.e. goals and aspirations section)... hmmm:

1. Looking to do more outdoor nature activities when time permits: i.e. a combination of hiking, kayaking, camping, and skiing
2. Start skating again
3. Take swimming lessons
4. Paint a bit more. I can't draw at all, but its just the idea of relaxing and doing that.
... there are so many more, but you'll have to find out for yourself.

While every comment that someone makes on here is taken in some context, relatively speaking I'd like to find someone with a similar flare for adventure, funny and can laugh, and not afraid to try new things (and suggest some too). Someone who is a good travel buddy, and interested in culture.

And I will be honest about this - I do have certain types of things I am looking for in guys who I would be interested in dating for a long term relationship over guys I want to meet for friendship. Everybody has them, and I'd challenge them if they say they don't.

I just put a whole bunch of suggestions in the last section. Simple is good - like dinner and a movie, or a walk and then a stop at a coffee shop, but there are always other things that would be neat to do, so if you are proposing, don't hestiate to suggest something. I've always wanted to go to Clay Cafe, buy and paint a mug during the Friday night music events.
