About Me
I march to the beat of a different drum, and the cadence changes quiet a bit. Most don't get it, but those that do really dig the beat. I'm the guy that rides his bike to work. I do yoga despite being the only (straight) guy in the room. I love to cook. I give world class backrubs. I play guitar, trying to learn piano, and sing only in one of three keys I can match.
I am not a "man's man" (or rather, not a stupid man's man). I don't enjoy watching UFC, pounding jager bombs, and watching stuff go fast and then blow up (other than the stuff they blow up on the Discovery channel, that's pretty cool). I am pretty well refined. I drink wine and gourmet beers. I read newspapers and online journals. I think before I act and am a very good communicator. I am very domestically adept (self reliant, fyi) and have a good sense of style. I am also a very liberal (read: libertarian) and open minded person. I was raised in the deep South however, so I cannot escape a family obsession with fishing and a serious passion for football.
I work downtown at an software design firm as a "problem solver". I love my job. It definitely nurtures my inner nerd/child. We ride razor scooters around the office and shoot nerf guns at each other. In my spare time I run my own personal training business which not only keeps my personal health habits honest, but it is also very fulfilling to help people achieve their personal goals and affect positive change their lives. Plus running your own business makes you grow up extremely fast, which I have benefitted from immensely.
I am at my core an introvert, but a natural born leader and performer, so I am most comfortable in front of 1000 people or just 1, but not 10. I am protective of my feelings and do not trust just anyone with them. I am not cold and thoughtless, however. I am very warm, accepting, and affectionate and fiercely loyal to those whom I respect and admire.
I have a dark sense of humor. Most don’t get it, but those who do think I’m one of the funniest people on the planet. I value subtle forms of communication, so my wit can often be under the radar and dry to the point where you find yourself laughing out loud on your way to work 3 days later.
I think that relationships come in many forms, and I'd like like to meet people who understands that concept. Whether life leads us to the bedroom or the altar; it is an opportunity to learn and grow as a person, so make the best of it!
Speaking of which, here's a few things that I've found that help conduct electricity. Confidence; I don't care if you disagree with me, but someone who is passionate about their beliefs and mildly aware about the world around them is a big turn on. Creativity; a sense of style or appreciation of culture/art/music keeps things exciting, I do not tend to get along with complete robots. Composure; I am very blunt and do not get along with emotionally fragile people, I refuse to treat someone like a child and ask nothing but the same in return. This trait is not out of spite, but rather out of respect, because I feel that your time and feelings are too important to waste or be misled.
And not to be a killjoy, but here are things which destroy romantic chemistry for me. Religion; I respect your right to believe what you want, but if you take issue with my agnosticism, I kindly ask that you do not contact me. Enabling; I have good self control, but I am not perfect, I would like to meet someone who reinforces good personal habits of diet and exercise (you don't have to be Ms. Olympia, I sure as hell am not). Immaturity; if you cannot handle the truth and reciprocate openness (no matter how difficult and unpleasant it may seem at the time), please look elsewhere.
(Special section for those with children: I do not oppose the idea of kids, I like the idea of raising some really kick ass human beings, and I'm almost 100% certain I'd make a great dad... *BUT* I refuse to fall in love with your children before I fall in love with you. It is too difficult on many levels. Thanks in advance.)
First Date
A first date should be low-key and unpretentious. Pressure and expectation are the enemies of chemistry. A cup of coffee, a walk in the park, anything that fosters communication and feels comfortable. Lets just chat and see if things click.
