It is hard to describe oneself without turning it into a laundry list. I tend to be serious but I have a great sense of humor which tends to the dry side. I love British comedy but I grew up watching The Three Stooges every day after school!

I believe in commununication and that without it the relationship dies. People don't know what you are thinking if you don't tell them. I think that with communication and honesty you build trust which gives a solid foundation for a relationship. I also believe that actions speak louder than words because words can be false or at least not fully honest. They say you can judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. I am not perfect and I do not seek perfection. I think men and women need each other and compliment each other and I think it is not good to be alone. Having said that I do not seek someone to "complete" me, nor am I looking for my "soul mate". I am happy with my life and am confortable with myself alone but I miss connecting with someone. I think that it is not the differences that matter but the things that bring us together like shared interests, shared values and beliefs. I do not want someone who agrees with everything I say for that would be boring and I expect there to be differing points of view and opinions. To me it is about being open to hearing and discussing, being able to learn and grow. I want some similarities but I want differences also because I want to know you are thinking for yourself and I want us to learn from each other. Life is about growth and exploring our world and the universe otherwise whats the point?

I am an amateur audiophile and a music collector of all types. I love all music except modern country but I love Patsy Cline. I especially love jazz and not just at night but any time. I grew up on rock and roll but I also listen to folk music from the 60's and Celtic music, new age, and classical. I like old movies especially comedies and murder mysteries. I like to cook and enjoy gardening and I think it is really soothing to the soul to have flowers around in various places in the yard because they are like little surprises that pop out at you when you don't expect it.

Of course I like to travel and am planning to go on a castle tour in England and Scotland but I would rather not go alone. I love to hike in the mountains and lay on the beach but not alone. So many things are better when shared. I love road trips and would like to take up snow skiing and scuba again with someone. I like ancient history, art and architecture and I like to keep up with current events both locally and around the world which is a leftover from being a political science major in college. I have an active mind and love to learn which is a good thing given that my job in IT requires it in order to keep up and I am currently working toward professional certifications and a Master's Degree. Even outside of work I like to keep my mind fit and would like to find someone to play chess, scrabble and backgammon with. The only sports you will see me watch on TV will be figure skating, golf when Tiger Woods is playing and hockey when the Hurricanes are in the playoffs. I try to watch what I eat, although I like good food too much to be very good at it and I go to the gym three times a week.

I was born and raised in Chicago and have the cultural exposure and outlook that comes from living in a large metropolitan area. I have been exposed to many different ethnic points of view and their culture, food, music and art and have learned that inside we are all the same. Wherever you go in the world you will find that all people want is be left alone to work hard, take care of their family and build a better life.

I will be happy if I can sit there and not drool into my coffee or say anything really stupid! After that a sunset walk on the beach and a glass of wine with a pile of shrimp while a jazz band plays softly in the background.
