About Me
Do you like to laugh? If so, I might be the guy for you. I’ve found that there’s only one thing more gratifying than laughter, and that’s the feeling you get when you make someone else laugh.
A sense of humor definitely helps at work. Interacting with hotel guests causes you to realize that you take common sense for granted. My favorite: Where’s the closest restaurant… About two blocks from here… Is that within walking distance? I don’t know – how far can you walk? And when you deal with guests who offer the most impossible issues, like guests who insist on a downtown view when the building next door blocks all downtown-facing views, a sense of humor keeps you sane.
So what are my aspirations? Professionally, I’m currently the youngest (by 10+ years) among four in the number three spot in the hotel. The number two spot was eliminated, but there is a good possibility that the position re-opens next year, so I’m working hard to be the guy to naturally ascend to that position. My longer-term goal is to be the General Manager of my own hotel by the time I turn 30.
But my work life is pretty much set for now so I can begin concentrating on other things, including dating. I approach dating in an old-fashioned way. I’m a one-girl man (if that) and believe that dating should be a gateway to potentially long-term companionship. To me, casual dating is like catch-and-release fishing. I also feel that a boyfriend should treat his girlfriend like a princess – holding her doors open, pulling out her chair, and putting her up on a pedestal.
I’ve got to admit – I’m not a typical 24-year-old. I’ve stayed away from drugs, and I don’t really drink – maybe a glass of wine with dinner or a glass of 15-year-old McCallan at a tasting, but I’m more likely to be the guy with a can of Red Bull at the bar. I like watching sports, but if I had the choice I’d rather watch a well-written movie or TV show – I’ll watch Aaron Sorkin for his well-written and paced script. I’ve always been mesmerized by the impact of good writing – diction, flow, verbiage, idioms, everything. I don’t necessarily think I’d be a success at it, but I’d love to write for a living – whether it’s writing sketches or a hotel operations instructional manual.
So what else do I like? I like trying new dining options, hanging out with friends over board games or sports, and just relaxing quietly at home. Unfortunately, if you’re looking for someone who likes to go to clubs you’ve got the wrong guy. And as odd as it might sound, after a long week of 12-hour days, I find it relaxing just to take a few hours and clean up my apartment – scrubbing down the kitchen and bathroom, dusting, and vacuuming. Giving my beautiful car and nice vacuum and wash is also pretty relaxing. And I haven’t gotten to it since I haven’t had anybody to take along, but I’d love to start travelling. In college, I lived four hours north of New York City, and never went because I always worked during breaks.
The site also asks what kind of music I like – I like anything upbeat, from Def Leppard to Black Eyed Peas. There’s nothing like the feeling of speeding down the highway with my sunglasses on and the sunroof down and upbeat tunes going. I’ve always been close to my dad, so I grew listening to Oldies. I played the violin until I started college so I enjoy a little Classical (mostly Romantic, like Tchaikovsky). But of course I’m also in my mid-20s so I usually listen to Top-40 on the radio.
First Date
To start off, I'd like to get to know my date over a nice dinner or coffee where we'd have to time to sit down and spend a good amount of time finding out about one another. But even more so, I'd like to ease the first-date tensions by doing something silly, like mini-golf, go-karts or karaoke. It's my greatest hope that at the end of the day, we would find that we enjoyed each other's company, and want to get to know each other better.
