About Me
1) Staying healthy: jack of all trades (athletic endeavors) but master of none; have been to numerous race driving schools around the country, enjoy fast cars and mototcycles, and have a sizeable stable of both; love to travel almost anywhere; enjoy reading, especially anything written by Churchill, Lincoln, Carlyle, Twain, and Melville. 2) Having an extra dollar or two after the bill has been paid. 3) Ivy educated - undergrad & grad - but not ivory tower; sociable and social; can go mountain climbing one day and to a white tie ball the next - or that evening - and like seeing that ability in a woman; an acute sense of humor; knowing the difference between Duncan Phyfe and Dunkin' Donuts. 4) '60s, '70s, and '80s rock & r&b mostly - with some '90s & later exceptions.
First Date
There are no hard and fast rules. I want to have a good time, and I want to show you a good time. I invited you, most likely, because I have an interest, and I'd like to explore it further. I've run the gamut on 1st dates, as I'm certain you have, too: from outright disasters in the first few minutes to great conversation during orange juice the next morning. Ideally, it's a 50-50 proposition: I'm bringing 50%, you're bringing the other 50%, and we either add or subtract from that number depending on how the date is proceeding. We were all given two ears and one mouth for a reason, and I'm ever mindful of that Darwinian calculus. Starting with drinks and/or appetizers somewhere would be good - the better to feel each other out, i.e., our are manners compatible, does conversation come easily, what is this person about and what makes her tick - then perhaps going to dinner somewhere else and having dessert at yet another spot. I'm interested in hearing from you how we got to where we are today. And whether, of course, there's any kind of spark.
