 About Me
I like how they asked me to talk about hobbies and what kind of music I like. That's just funny. If I'm right (and I think I am), finding someone to love is pretty independent of hobbies and musical taste. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to know you have something in common. It helps the conversation at first - maybe makes you more comfortable. Personally, I never run out of things to talk about, so I don't really need that. I play some sports, enjoy watching movies, and like a beer every now and then, but if that's all that we have between us, we're doomed to fail. I think I like different types of music every month. Last year I enjoyed 80s music, but now I'm back to classic rock. But you know what? I'm not going to hold it against you if you like bluegrass metal emo rap. That doesn't define who you are. I'd much rather get to know you over the phone or over dinner and find out if we have anything substantive in common. And to be honest (this is where I lose people), I'm not picky. I figure everyone deserves a shot. Of course, if you email me and say you're going to strangle me on the first date, I probably won't be taking you out anytime soon. But if you seem relatively normal, why not give it a try? What do I have to lose? An evening of my time? I think that's well worth the risk, considering the potential reward of finding someone with whom you really connect. So I'm not going to be shy about sending you a message if I think you're cute or interesting or funny, because while I may get rejected, I may meet the woman of my dreams. The same goes for you. If you're reading this and thinking to yourself "wow, he's got a point" or just "hey, I wonder if this guy's full of crap" then go ahead and send me a message. You've got nothing to lose.

P.S. Sorry for the rant. Sometimes I start writing and I can't stop.

 First Date
The best first date I ever had involved chicken wings and ice cream. We enjoyed good food, we talked, and we got to know each other. Plus, who doesn't love ice cream? Of course, I know there are plenty of vegetarians and lactose intolerant women in the world these days, so we might have to switch some stuff up and play it by ear. I'm game. After all, it never hurts to try new things.
