I'm 6'1" tall, weigh 235 pounds and am muscular and broad shouldered from weight training. Overall I would consider myself to be in good physical shape but would still like to lose 10-15 lbs. I have short straight brown hair and my eyes are blue.

Let me start off with my good attributes first since my bad ones are too numerous to go into at this point in time. It would be like reading Tolstoy's war and peace. I am kidding of course.

My good attributes are that I'm intelligent, have a great sense of humor, and I try to be a sincerely good person when I'm not drinking, gambling, and generally just raising hell. Seriously, I do have a lot of good, redeeming qualities. I always open doors for women, pull their seats for them at restaurants. I'm very respectful and considerate of others. I'm the type of guy that will pull over for a funeral procession if driving or if I'm outside standing I'll stop what I'm doing and hold my hand over my heart. I treat the elderly kindly because one day I'll probably be just like them. Its about simple respect for people.

For recreation I like doing outdoorsy types of things like going to the park, playing tennis, weight training, working out etc. I love the water in particular and try to visit my family's beach condo in Gulf Shores as much as I can.

For sports football is my favorite and this morning I got so pumped up thinking about it that I tackled the mail lady at the mail box. I'm built like a linebacker so it couldn't have felt good. Hope she's all right.

I don't take myself too seriously and I like to laugh a lot. Sometimes I'm loud and boisterous and you just can't get me to STFU. Other times I'm calmer than a Hindu cow.

In my more leisurely activities I'm a voracious reader, and lately I've really enjoyed doing bible study and learning more about the Bible. No, I haven't become a holier than thou bible thumper. Just trying to be a better person but I still like to have fun!

I do like to drink but am not one to get falling down drunk. Not saying its never happened. Just that its not my usual course of action. I do drink socially but only beer. No hard liquor or shots and no drugs of course. I have on occasion had a couple of those froo froo drinks with umbrellas when no one was looking.

As far as musical tastes go I'm pretty much all over the map. I prefer classic rock, metal and alternative but I can deal with country, I have a lot of classical cds like Bach and Mozart to name a few, and I even listen to Nina Simone. Along that same line my favorite class in college was art appreciation and my favorite painter is Rembrandt. I would like to do more cultural things like going to the High Museum more often but with the ruffian crowd of guys that I call friends I just don't see that happening.

I love a good hard laugh and I don't take myself too seriously. But I'm kind of a study in contrasts in that I'm also an alpha male. Sometimes I will be very direct with people and quite frankly I can be somewhat intimidating to people that don't know me. But I do have as big a heart as anybody and would do just about anything for a friend. Oh, I might also need to mention that I can be a bit of a smartass also. Not a mean spirited smartass but a smartass nonetheless. I'm working hard to rectify this small character deficiency but you know what? Sometimes I just can't help it!

I'm looking for a girl next door type who's laid back, not pretentious, intelligent, has a keen sense of humor, and is open minded. First date. It really just depends on the calendar, the person, and mutual interests. I've had first dates where we did something different and unusual like going hiking. And I've had dates where we went to a concert, a local festival, or a sporting event as a first date. And then some dates where we just went for coffee, drinks, or dinner. I'm pretty versatile and it really just depends on the person and what's going on around town. Ideally though I think a first date with someone you've never met in person should be a no pressure situation like just having coffee or a couple drinks together for an hour or so.
