I would like to find an interesting woman with which to share things. I enjoyed living alone for a while. I now see the value in having someone to talk to, to share thoughts and laughs. Even little daily things, not just big life events.

I've had several wide ranging careers: musician, semiconductor physics research, computer geek. Many say that's suprising but I see a common thread. I am recently retired but still do some consulting. I have had the house all to myself after getting amicably divorced six years ago. Both kids are now married. I must say it was interesting living alone for the first time in my life. But now I've been there, done that.

I decided to retire early because I wanted to enjoy life while I am still young and active enough to do anything that strikes my fancy. I now play music in a couple of local bands. I like older jazz and good, classic singers like Sinatra, Tony Bennett or Billie Holiday. I try to ride my bike about 20 miles whenever possible for fun and excercise. (By "bike" I mean a 10 speed - you know with a chain and pedals, not a Harley!) I have a nice model railroad but, surprisingly, I don't spend as much time with it now as when I was working full time. And there are always home improvment projects in the works. I no longer have the excuse of not enough time to work on that one this week. ;-)

I like to cook but my repertoire certainly could be expanded. I have started to become a little more of an "adventurous eater" - sampling some exotic restaurants, Ethiopian, for example. There are scores of places I have not yet sampled. An evening with an old movie and a big bowl of popcorn often suits me just fine. I like the old, classic movies with Tracey and Hepburn, Jack Lemmon, etc. I also enjoy Nora Ephron movies like "Sleepless" and "You've Got Mail" and similar movies like "Serendipity " and "Must Love Dogs." Go figure! If there's a Cardinals or Cubs baseball game on TV, I've probably got it on even though I might be working on some little project. I sometimes enjoy a fine cigar or a bowl of quality pipe tobacco when I'm outdoors - no cigarettes or smoking indoors.

I do like to go out and hear good, live music. Mostly classic jazz or bluegrass, sometimes some blues or R&B. I meet some old buddies doing that. That's always good. But...

It would be nice to find a special woman who fills my thoughts and with whom to share these experiences.

A first date would probably be a dinner at some nice, quiet place or maybe just a walk in a park. Yes, the park might be a little uncomfortable if it's winter or raining! So maybe a cup of coffee together on those days. I tend to believe there's truth in the old Frank Sinatra tune "Nice and Easy Does It" ...... everytime.
