I'm a new resident of Seattle who's visited the city often over the past 40 years. I'm energized to be starting a new adventure and interested in finding someone to share the experiences with.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts and still have family there. In 1968 I left the East Coast for Alaska and lived there until recently. I love Alaska very much; I have businesses that keep me in the north during the summer months, but the rest of the year I'll be living in Seattle.

I'll be in Seattle continuing my pursuit of a Ph.D. I'm really enjoying this new phase of my life: dedicating myself to learning and improving my professional skills. I'm passionate about my research topic and about my aspiration to use my newfound knowledge to effect change in an Alaska industry that is sorely in need of reform.

Travel, both domestic and international, is important to me. I have been fortunate enough to see much of the world and plan to continue doing so. I get a kick out of exploring the West in my antique car, a Packard that is as old as I am.

I enjoy daily walks and the occasional hike. In winter I like to go skiing, both cross-country and downhill. I also love being on and near the ocean; I spent many years as a commercial salmon fisherman, during which I ran my own boat in the southeast Bering Sea.

I like going to farmer's markets to shop for local foods. I try to keep healthy without obsessing over my health. I enjoy intellectual stimulation, good wine and good stories. I also enjoy romance and reciprocal attraction. I don't own a TV. Consequently I spend very little time watching the tube. However I do enjoy good movies and good books.

My first date would be a lovely dinner at an interesting restaurant. Then, if the mood is right, perhaps a moonlight walk along the waterfront.
