I am a dichotomy. I was raised in a family that placed a significant premium on academic achievement. We were as apt to spend dinner discussing Giacometti or Ernst as we were to have an impromptu math or history quiz. With one parent a physician and the other a working artist a paradoxical influence was exerted. I allow myself to do productive ambling in my approach to goal attainment. I am known for my disciplined mindset when called for but I love to have an open agenda and lots of unstamped pages in my passport to put to use. Travel is a primary interest (particularly to distant less frequented destinations) but I can relish the familiarity of hearth and home. I have a keen interest in art in general with an emphasis on music. I see learning as a life-long undertaking either formal or otherwise. I am very fond of my active physical/healthy lifestyle. Although not obsessive I try to run and/or workout on a daily basis and take pride in my personal appearance and appreciate the company of others who feel likewise. I would probably do best with individuals who appreciate canine companionship in their life on one level or another. I am a big fan of the outdoors and need little encouragement to head out on a trek to the Whites or elsewhere. If you enjoy food, gardening and reading we have a commonality. If you need to give back and volunteer we are kindred. Voltaire's observation that God is a comedian playing to a crowd too afraid to laugh is not lost on me. Life is short and it is later than it seems.

I view dating as an opportunity to get to know someone and what makes their heart pump and their amygdala spark. So whatever the date involves, spending time talking in a relaxed setting is number one, otherwise what's the point? I'm primarily interested in interesting people who are intellectually curious and have a positive outlook. If you combine these aspects of someone's personality with most any fun activity you have a winning date be it spent taking in a new restaurant and gallery opening or walking along the Charles with coffee.
