About Me
Welcome to my POF profile, version 3.0.
I'm a recent graduate from the U of I. I have a B.S. and an M.P.A., and after this fall ('09) I'll also have a certificate in emergency planning/homeland security. I'm a consultant with an environmental engineering firm, though I'm really looking to grow and challenge myself in other areas. I have a family member who is one of those guys that makes every project he works on turn to gold; in terms of my eventual career path, that's really the kind of person I want to be, regardless of field.
I think too much for my own good...most of my friends hand off any kind of planning or logistical work to me, because I'm "the responsible one." I'm flattered, really, but sometimes I wish someone else would take care of all the details so I could really relax and focus on enjoying the moment a little more. I don't see this as a bad thing, just something I'm working on.
I am creative, though I often find myself without outlets. I'm good at building things; computers, IKEA furniture, mountains of laundry, forts made out of pillows, you name it. I'd like to find someone who would appreciate a DIY project as much as I do, or would be happy getting a power tool as a gift. Heh heh heh...power tool.
I always feel like I should be doing something useful, either for myself or someone else. I got mildly depressed each time I completed my respective degrees, because the thought of not being a classroom anymore was...well, depressing. I love to learn about new things, usually to the point where I start wishing I had gone into other fields...but I know that's just a symptom of the grass being greener on the other side. I love anything related to science and I volunteer irregularly, though I enjoy it quite a bit. Small animals are nice too. For lunch.
Activities: I'm up for anything. Soccer, darts, drinking, watching football, swimming, skating, making fun of people in public, debating, reading, finger painting, zoo romps (former employee, I know all the secrets), and statistical analysis of government programs serving at-risk populations. Yeah, not so much on that last one, but you get the idea.
I'm a laid-back guy looking for someone cool (and attractive). It helps if you're motivated, and/or you really enjoy what you do (and/or we like the same things). Sense of humor and positive outlook on life are a must; I am not a qualified psychotherapist, so I can't help you otherwise (unless you pay me $100/hour and sign a waiver).
Please don't pollute my inbox if you can't type complete sentences. Modern science has given us the QWERTY keyboard, with letters, numbers, and symbols all strategically placed and ready to be pressed, and even if you screw up, there's always backspace/delete. And let's not forget about spell check! What I'm saying is, I may or may not respond to your message in any case, for reasons which have nothing to do with your worth as a person...but not sounding like a retard will increase those chances dramatically. Thanks.
First Date
Something low-impact, I don't like breaking out the pads until the second or third date.
