I am a man of principle. Not ruled by the arbitrary, fluctuating, "values" of today's hegemony. Ok, so if you are still reading you should know that I am not only passionate about my principles, but about my loves: my friends, my family, my team, art&music, and the pursuit of knowledge and truth. I hope I don't sound like a hippie or anything, but maybe if I were born in a different time, I would have been living on a commune. I have a bachelors degree in English with a teaching emphasis that I am currently trying to make better use of in this era of closing schools and building jails. I am currently the primary caretarer of my elderly grandfather; it is definately a labor of love. I'm an outdoorsy type, a high school football coach, a former boy scout, amateur dog trainer... etc. I have a dog that is a rescued stray: sonya- ridgeback/staffordshire mix, and i have a pet praying mantis (seriously). I enjoy playing sports and being active, going to sporting events, going to shows to see live music, art shows, and exploring different scenes that I may not particularly be into, lots of fun stuff; I also enjoy cooking for that special someone, and for myself for that matter... seriously, and I'm not talking spaghetti, I got skills...
I am looking for someone who is secure with themselves, someone who knows who they are, and does not have self-esteem problems. Someone who is loyal and honest; honest with me as well as with themselves. A woman who knows how to appreciate a good man. Trust, I will match your effort. Someone who is witty and intelligent with a balance of independence and community, pride and humility, which i think is necessary in a relationship; a partner, not a princess. I'd like my partner to enjoy most of the same activities I do so we can have fun and be together often and never bore of eachother. I am also open to dating someone completely opposite to myself, you never know who you will have chemistry with until you are willing to give it a try. Physically, usually, I like a woman with a fit or athletic build, but I also like to know a girl can eat. Dont be shy to get greasy at the bbq. I don't really have a racial/ethnic preference; beauty is beauty. I'd like to find someone who enjoys going out, and staying in for a quiet evening of dining and a movie or something. I'm really looking to find my other half, someone I can give my heart to and be my queen.

A first date with me would hopefully consist of alot of conversation, maybe in a lounge with some live music, not so loud that we couldn't hear eachother though; not the movies or a club that can be loud and impersonal. I also think a carnival or festival of some sort is a good first date, something where i can see a more fun side and break the tension of sitting across from eachother analyzing.
