My roots are showing...
When I was young the phrase was Don't trust anyone over 30... on the sliding scale of time it is currently I don't trust anyone over 70! Except for my mom... she's 84.
Just watched the new Star Trek, have to say it was great... very Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
I enjoy the indoors (especially bowling alleys and movies),racquetball is great, hiking, golfing, (when the weather isn't dictating the prior), skiing, tubing, anything with my kids (3) and grandkids (2). The grandson (6) and I have been playing chess, he knows how all the pieces move and capture... great to watch him grow. Don't even ask about grand nieces and nephews! Truly an invasion for a family get together.
I'm old enough to know better and young enough to do it again. I enjoy art, history, philosophy, music, going to plays, sitting on the beach, or on a nice hill. And I don't mind agreeing to disagree, discussion is what its all about.
My musical taste is eclectic to say the least... from Abba to ZZ Top... (can't stand it when lists go from 'The Beatles to The Who',that only covers B to W! or even worse 'The Who to Steppenwolf', what does that cover?). On the alternative side try 10CC, Atomic Rooster, Blind Faith, Frank Zappa, Genesis, Hawkwind, Ludwig Van, Modest Mouse, Oingo Boingo, Pink Floyd, Savoy Brown, and White Witch (Lynnrd Skynnrd contemporary).
(from Modest Mouse)
I know now,
what I knew then,
but I didn't know then,
what I know NOW...

Gotta love the banana!

I won't ask you to put this on your page,
even if its happened to you or a loved one.
Grandkid names (that I'm trying to get my kids to use)

Isadorable - cutest girls name ever
N8 - Nate, how many kids have a number in their name?!
Calcules - pronounced like Hercules... the smart kid
Doctor - Can be a boy or girl name!
My buddy is heading for 2 weeks of physical therapy before they say anything else. Left side is numb and limp, but he can wiggle his toes... classic stroke symptoms.
Background: His wife just walked out on him and their kids (13 and 10) 3 months ago, he's been unemployed because the company he worked for went bankrupt (no fault of his own) he coached baseball for his son and coached soccer for his daughter, a nicer guy I do not know. He still has a sense of humor though, he said send money, not flowers...
Update on the buddy... he moved his left arm and stood up! Seriously I think a full recovery will happen. Not going to call it a miracle, that would be growing back a leg, but there has never been a better time to be alive than NOW.
A nice lunch or a coffee together would be fine. Maybe meet for appetizers and wine... no stress, no worries.
