Walking on the beach with an intelligent woman would be enough to keep me happy. Reading fills in the holes on rainy days or sleepless nights. Playing games like cribbage or scrabble is fun. Enjoy classic rock and new country. Mariners games are fun on a lazy afternoon. Kenny Chesney concert was great! Sugarland, or Jennifer Nettles, as I call the band was awesome. What's missing is having that special lady to send flowers to, or surprise with a weekend roadtrip.
My literary tastes seem to lean towards the classics, my favorite book, and this is not meant to impress, is "To Kill a Mockingbird", I truly feel the childlike wonder and envy the small town environment where families have known one another for generations. The play "Our Town" wakes me up to the hear and now, and yes, it makes me call my mother to tell her I love her. Faulkner tops all other novelists in my opinion. Poetry, mostly short but touching poems can usually be found in my wallet, "Jenny kissed me" will forever be on my person.
History has always been of interest, Howard Zinn has a great way of looking at the past, the individuals that made a difference but go without recognition. I'll end with this, I try to treat women as ladies, meaning opening doors, walking on the street side, and surprising with gifts, and showing respect.
One more thing, it's well known, (from the man himself, of POF) that the majority of members are actually married. It brings to mind one of the proudest moments I've experienced as a father. My daughter at sixteen met a boy she liked, now before anything else she broke up with her current boyfriend hoping the other boy would ask her out. Well, he didn't, but she played fair, she ended one relationship before even knowing if she'd have the other. That's integrity, honesty, guts, and just being a decent person.
