I guess this site isn't so different from the pay sites... Everyone is looking for something and I'm no different. Call it what you will: dating, long-term, activity partner, friends or whatever, they are just different ways to get to the same place. Some like the highway, others like to meander the back roads to get there but the goal is the same. I suppose by this time in life, folks get pickier. Fine, I'm picky too. At this time I'm just looking at profiles hoping to find one that is different from the rest. Not much luck yet.

I have many interests and I'm comfortable in many situations. I can mingle with the best of 'em. I've lived in Japan, San Francisco, and Jacksonville, Alabama and traveled to the Philippines, Saipan, Korea and almost all of these United States and all of Western Europe (Now that's an anachronism), and Morroco. That leaves quite a bit of world to see - and I hope to!

So, the POF suggestions: Hobbies; computer, reading, hiking, weightlifting, conversing (Is that a hobby?), vegetable gardening, cooking. Basically, I am a social person and like staying active.
Goals: Currently with Aflac and my goal is to be successful at it or something else in the insurance field. I traveled a lot when I did not have kids, and will probably get out on the highway for whatever comes my way again when they are up and running on their own. (Son, 19; daughter, 17)
Uniqueness: My sense of humor is a bit different, shaped by my years of travel and the situations I've had and observed. Lots of memories from my time in Japan that are somewhat unique if that's possible. I mean unique is one-of-a-kind and somewhat seems to contradict that. I like to have fun.
Music: I'm finally getting tired of the oldies. I enjoy Big Bands, Jazz, Classic Rock, and a mish-mash of others. What I call Popular Country - the mainstream stuff on 99.5 is ok.

First "dates" are actually meet-and-greets and should go no further than a simple chance to talk and get to know each other. As such, it should be simple. I prefer to meet for drinks because I only drink coffee in the morning. Maybe the meet-and-greet will go longer than expected, maybe I'll pick up the tab. If we are both enjoying ourselves, I see no reason not to just keep on doing so. I learned long ago that honesty is best so as to avoid an uncomfortable rendezvous. I can only be me. That's who I am.
