We need a sense of commitment in order to open our hearts to each other, and to know that we can weather out the rough times together. Emotional security is essential for all kinds of intimacy.
Communication is vital to sorting out conflict and necessary to outline needs... because it's hard to read minds and find out what you or I need or want.
