I was raised in the Midwest, came to California for college (and stayed for a few years after), moved back to the East Coast for work for about 10 years, then returned to sunny LA five years ago. For the most part, it has been easy to re-adjust to Los Angeles (the traffic, the weather, etc...) however the "singles scene" leaves something to be desired, which brings me here.

In college I was an athlete, and I still try to stay active. Hiking up in the mountains, playing softball and sailing are a few of the activities I enjoy. I like to spend my downtime reading or watching a good movie. I believe balance is the key, but sharing some of these things with some one special would make them all the better. I have a good career, and a few more goals to reach, but do not let myself become entirely defined and consumed by my work. I know that the most important job that I have is raising happy, healthy, and productive kids.

I am looking for a wonderful, smart, and kind woman, who appreciates the same in her guy. My perfect match is honest and open, likes to have fun and laugh, but also knows when to be serious. She also will have passion and strength of character, intelligence and sincerity. She would not be afraid to be herself. I'm not sure that I have a "dream first date", but assuming that I'm not limited by anything (schedules or finances)... I'd like to hop on a plane, and fly to Dubrovnik in Croatia. Then we could charter a sailboat, and sail to Hvar or one of the other Dalmatian islands. Once there, we could hike in the forests or mountains, a little snorkeling or swimming in the Adriatic would be great too. Hopefully, there would be time for a nice dinner at a little hole-in-the-wall cafe as well. That is kind of the "lotto dream first date". Not entirely practical but interesting to think about.

Since this whole online dating thing is just a little odd, maybe a better first date would be coffee or a drink, so we could talk and get to know each other. With the right person, anything will be nice, but the opportunity to talk and get to know each other would be high on the list.
