About Me
Hi. I recently moved from Arizona to pursue my masters degree in English and for a change of scenery. I'm in love with reading and traveling. I just finished up my first year of teaching high school English and due to the budget cuts (salary included), I am continuing my education (no, I was not fired, I resigned). I am actually looking to teach in Boston next summer, but that is sort of a wait and see since the economy sucks right now.
My three main goals in life: I want to travel the world, learn to play the piano (and play it relatively well... enough to play my favorite songs), and buy at least twenty acres of land (I still have a girlish obsession for horses). You should message me if you are highly educated, currently gainfully employed, and looking for something other than an empty relationship.
Favorites:
Books: The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, Sabriel by Garth Nix, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin, Great Expectations by Charles****ns (I find it hysterical that the website blocks out poor Charles' last name), Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns, Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson (childhood favorite:-), and much more... I love books.
Movies: Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Napoleon Dynamite, Snatch, Amelie, Crash, Disney movies, V for Vendetta, K-PAX, Moulin Rouge, Life is Beautiful, Garden State, Last Kiss, etc. I can't think of anything more right now because all my movies are packed :-(
Food: I love food! Especially, Italian and Mexican... medium-rare ribeyes, avocados, mushrooms, sharp cheddar cheese, Cold Stone cake batter ice cream mixed with cookie dough and caramel. Yum.
Music: A little bit of everything. :-)
Random Information About Me: As you will read below, I hate all things cliché. I love going to the beach at midnight to sit in the sand and feel the cool ocean breeze on my skin (ok maybe that is a bit cliché). Spicy food rocks my world. I enjoy going to concerts, drinking fresh lemonade, and hiking. I like to keep my life exciting, mix it up a bit. My goal is to travel all over Europe for at least three months before I am 30. Bartending is probably the best job ever. I can't stand ants. I am a complete night owl and most definitely not a morning person. I hate sandals of any kind on men or women (flip flops are ok... as long as they are nice looking flip flops). Ignorance is not bliss. I love cheese and wine! Nothing beats a cold dark beer after a long day. I love the rain. I'm passionate for literature... the written word... art!
My goals over the next six months: lose twenty pounds and get in fabulous shape, go to a nice place that plays live Jazz, gain a close group of friends, finish half of my MA, and get a job bartending again.
First Date
As far as first dates are concerned, if I have not previously met the guy then I like to just have coffee. I know, that sounds completely boring. But I do not want to invest my time and money into a person I may not have a connection with. It takes the pressure off of the date. I know that if I do not connect with the guy I can finish my coffee and leave. No hard feelings. I also would feel terrible if a guy took me out to a nice dinner and I have to tell him at the end of the night that I'm not interested (or vice versa). So, coffee works well for both. The second date, however, is a completely different story. I hate any and all things cliché...
