About Me
I've recently had my "Stranger than Fiction" moment, when I realized I was baking more than doing my homework (I was studying creative writing at a state school) and I've just recently decided to pursue that passion. My goal is to own my own bakery somewhere out on the Northwest coast, or as close as I can get it! Food is obviously a passion, and unfortunately I have a hard time having patience with extreme-picky-eaters (though I must admit my struggle with spicy foods- I'll get there). My favorite foods are Greek Mediterranean, Asian and Indian. I also don't understand girls who go out on a date to a restaurant and then DON'T EAT ANYTHING. WHAT THE HECK. I have two cats that I love, Wilhelm and Jacob- named after the Brothers Grimm. I like to read a lot, but don't have as much time for it lately; I have 3 in-process novels right now, and I finished 4 books this summer- that doesn't seem like a lot to me! My favorites are almost always second hand. I think the act of finding them tucked away in a thrift or vintage store adds to their charm. I've recently started cycling, I have a late nineties Bianchi Premio, and I miss living downtown where I could bike everywhere, and that is something I hope to share with my future husband and children. I am really interested and want to learn more about "sustainable urbanism" and becoming a better 'steward of the Earth and its resources.' I'm very passionate about 'your vs. you're' and 'their vs. they're vs there!' My all-time favorite movie is Amelie, but Benny and Joon would have to be my "chaser" in life. Wes Anderson flicks and period movies tend to be pretty high on my rotation as well. I do play video games, but I tend to go for rpg's and mmo's rather than first person shooters or sports games. It's not a huge part of my time-- I go through cycles. I can go from being very serious to being really childlike, in the sense that I get excited about little things. I tend to err on the hyperbolic side. I'm really interested in music, and I play really rudimentary guitar, some keyboard and just bought a lapsteel guitar and I hope to develop them to match the songs I write in my head.
God is a HUGE part of my life and has been so.faithful to me. There have been times where I have tried to walk away, and while I'm not proud of those times, I relish how He pulled me back into Himself. He is my ultimate satisfaction, and I hope to find someone to share His Goodness with.
What I'm looking for: I want to wait for someone who will share my love of music and art and the beauty that we have been given. I want to wait for someone who is bold, thoughtful, who is not too quick to speak, but, rather, diplomatic. I need someone who will show me how to slow down and not worry/fret/stress over everylittlething. I want someone that I can stay up all night with picking each others brains over deep topics, spend all day thrifting or poking around old bookstores, or veg out watching shitty tv. He needs to accept my need to analyze but remind me to stay grounded- understand that my crazy moments are fleeting but are (usually) followed by lucidity, he needs to be able to stand up to me, and not let me push him around, to push me not to settle for my weaknesses, but also accept my flaws and quirks for who they make me. I want a marriage where we embolden each other in our faith, inspire and challenge each other in all areas of life; a marriage where we fight with intensity sometimes, but always love passionately. I want a marriage where we need to rely on God every second but that only makes things more beautiful... I need to find someone that I can respect as a man because I cannot love someone I don't respect.
I LOVE guys with a nerdy side, whether it's tech, bikes, typography, architecture, music, movies or games. I guess I'm your pretty typical plaid shirt and cardigan kind of girl.
First Date
I would love to go to a museum, and then out to an interesting hole-in-the-wall place for dinner. Really, anything to sort of give us something to talk about and experience together like that is a great thing, AND educational! I love streets where there are a few places to poke around in, like a vintage bookstore or record shop, maybe a cafe. Hopefully we'd get a chance to get to know each other over dinner. I'm pretty flexible, though, and I'm down for whatever as long as we have fun! It's more about the attitude of the two people rather than the activity, be it museum, movie or whatever. Also, I think it's kind of a treat if the guy has the whole day plan and I don't need to stress about planning anything and just enjoy his company.
