I am the antithesis of what Southerner's refer to as a d*mn Yankee, as I have settled in nicely to life in the Northeastern US. Since moving to this area I have asked all sorts of people this question and have not gotten one single response to my burning question: What does a Northerner call someone who moves north and settles here? (I'm convinced there must be a name for it. Something similarly derogatory as is d*mn yankee.) If you know the answer....please enlighten me!! I have been enjoying my close proximity to several major US cities, which affords me the opportunity to expand my cultural knowledge and entertain myself. I attended my first (and more than likely last) professional football game and visited the Big Apple on several occasions (with the accompanying high priced parking ticket to remind me of my visit, least I forget!).


I've spent the last 1 1/2-2 years traveling around doing 13 week assignments. It was a great experience and I got to see a lot of new places and meet some great people. However, I also spent most of my time outside of work by myself. As a result, I am now extremely ready to enjoy being back home, cultivating existing and new friendships and hopefully meeting someone special with whom to laugh, have fun and enjoy special times.

I have varied interests and am spontaneous and adventurous in nature. I love to laugh and have a good time with loved ones. Sometimes I can't seem to get out the words fast enough and sometimes I prefer to listen. I love nothing better than to wake up on a Saturday or Sunday, get in the car and go off, destination unknown. While I'm driving something will strike my fancy and suddenly the destination is known. For fun I love to take my DSLR and snap shots of whatever catches my interst, go to a museum or art gallery, wander around a new place exploring what it has to offer, finding a funky new restaurant and trying something new, watching movies, listening to music, reading books, learning new things, dancing, wandering through antique stores/flea markets/junk stores and laughing and having fun.
I'm always looking to expand my mind and my understanding of new concepts and ideas. Not much into planning out my personal life, as my professional life requires a great deal of that. Personally I prefer to wing it, so to speak, except when it is necessary to make personal plans. Laughing and being playful are two of my greatest joys and I try to surround myself with others who enjoy that as well or whom enhance that quality in myself. I tend to be a risk taker as well, though I'm not foolish with it.

I have great duality in my personality. On the one hand, I'm the poster child for hopeless romantics. I love spending time with someone special, making him dinner, enjoying long walks in the mountains or at the shore (my Southern self is having SOOO much trouble saying the "shore" instead of the "beach"), dancing at the spur of the moment for no particular reason except to hold someone close, snuggling on the sofa as we watch a movie (and I do like other types of movies than "chick flicks") and doing silly little surprises to let him know I'm thinking about him. On the other hand, I like a little spice in my life and have been known to deviate a little to the left of norm, if you know what I mean....lol. If you don't know exactly what I'm alluding to...well, just ask!!

The actual activity wouldn't matter much to me. The important thing would be to have an opportunity to talk and get to know each other a bit and see if we felt there was a connection between us. Just having an opportunity to have lively conversation and laugh is a great way to get to know one another.
