About Me
Hi, guys, and thanks for checking out my profile. I'm a masculine, laid back, easy going romantic with a warm smile, a unique sense of humor, and a tender, generous heart. I enjoy working out, bike riding, long walks, photography, cooking, quiet coffeehouses, a nice glass of red wine, preferably a shiraz or a malbec, extra dark chocolate, and I also like crosswords, Scrabble, and am a novice Backgammon player, even if it is just online, and would like to try my hand at writing a book. I enjoy trying different cuisines, and have even dabbled myself in cooking east African and Moroccan dishes; and I always appreciate a good meal, either home cooked or at a new and exciting restaurant. The best meals, I think, whether it consists of lamb chops with lavender and rosemary or a bowl of gruel, are the ones shared in the company of best friends. I enjoy art shows, including a trip to Madison each year for the Art Fair on the Square.
I am highly devoted to my family and to my closely knit circle of friends, and I respect any man in my life who feels the same way about his. I would always have a high regard for a boyfriend who would still make time for his friends and his family, as I would for mine, because a solid relationship with family and a core set of friends are essential to growth and development.
I do not fit the stereotypical mold of what much of straight society perceives a gay man to be, preferring to believe that being gay is something that you are, not something that you do; and having said that, I oft times find myself wrapped up in the rainbow, but at a different end of the spectrum. Hence, I tend to wince (and yes, I understand that this is based on their perception of how they must project the gay "lifestyle.") at those gay men whose actions and personas serve to do no more than to set us back twenty years.
I enjoy music, but not so much the clubby stuff that is played at the bars. I suppose if there were to be an appropriate venue for dance club music, where better than a room full of gyrating twinks, and it does often serve the purpose of getting the patrons out onto the dance floor, even myself on the very rare occassion, (albeit poorly), so credit where it is due. Personally, I prefer artists such as Jesse Malin, Paul Westerberg, The Replacements, Roxy Music, Kate Bush, Rufus Wainwright, John Wesley Harding, and The Pogues, to name a few, and I am working on obtaining a version of an album by the Alarm sung entirely in Welsh.

First Date
For our first date, assuming that the introductions went well and we were past the nervous glances and awkward silences, we would share a quiet dinner, imersing ourselves in the glow of our silhouettes as the candle light reflects off of us. The time will fly by as my date and I will become lost in conversation, our focus for the evening only on each other. After dinner he and I will either take a long walk or head over to a local coffeehouse and find an intimate corner and continue getting acquainted. While at the coffeehouse he would lay his hand on top of mine and we would lean into each other where our lips would meet so softly and sweetly. How we would continue and end the date would be left to chance, but the most important thing is that we spent quality time together and had a chance to get acquainted, and if we were to truly click romantically, then that would hopefully set the stage for future dates, and if not, then maybe the two of us would at least come out of the deal with a new friend.
