I'm Nick, a somewhat outgoing guy who has lived in the DC area since 1986. I first lived inside the beltway, then later moved to Centreville. While most of my friends are like me, single with no kids, I've found it's more difficult meeting new people to date the older I get, so here I am to hopefully find you.

First and foremost, I'm not perfect and the activities I'm listing below are a summary of things I like to do or have done. I do have a fair amount of free time, and that's important if you're looking to meet someone.

I'm told my best traits are a positive attitude, outlook and a friendly demeanor. As for my interests and activities, I traveled extensively growing up and caught the travel bug, so that's one of my favorite hobbies. Vacationing in 13 countries and 49 states, including three cross country trips I did by the seat of my pants, was exciting. Hawaii is a favorite (with several of my profile pictures from there). While traveling is a blast, it would be so much better sharing the fun times with someone. Why not get to know me and join me on a future trip?

As a teenager, I learned to water-ski and still enjoy it. I've always found it fun to spend a great day out on a boat with the wind and spray of the water. Sailing a Sunfish can also be relaxing. So, why not get to know me and enjoy some of these activities? We could also spend time together canoeing (Potomac), hiking (local trails or Roosevelt Island?), biking and walking around Alexandria, checking out the antique or art shops and restaurants (I prefer bland American food and love Italian). Other activities we could do include a day trip in my summer convertible (well harder now winter is approaching), dashing around on a roller coaster ride, bowling (145 average), gardening, working on home projects (I re-modeled my kitchen, bathrooms and built a patio), yard work, playing board games (such as snakes and ladders or Uno) or, just the simple fun of throwing a Frisbee back and forth. More relaxing times together could include quiet evenings at home watching a good movie or playing with Pumpkin, my orange cat.

So, who am I and what am I like? People tell me I'm easy to talk to and can carry a decent conversation. I'm both outgoing, where I've taken flying lessons and motorcycle lessons, yet have a reserved side, where I enjoy many evenings at home relaxing. I'm a straight talker, honest, reliable and play by the rules. I can also be cool, collective and straightforward. I'm a liberal, love 70s and 80s music (enjoy Hair Nation/ 80s/ 70s and Boneyard on Sirius/ XM), sci-fi and adventure movies and am an environmentalist.

Why am I here? I'm looking to meet someone for a long term relationship who has common sense, a great smile, positive attitude and is easy to talk to. Someone who has some, but of course, not all, of the same interests as me. Someone who's able to turn off the TV, computer and cell phone and spend time with me walking on a beach, picking a flower, jumping in a cold lake or creek, having a picnic or just laying in a open field and looking at the stars. Basically, a companion, best friend and so forth. As noted earlier, having free time is important, or else why be here?

Starbucks is a great place for an initial meeting. You can sit down and just have a nice conversation and get to find out a bit about each other.

Of course, a second date could include going to someplace like Outback, Cheesecake Factory, bowling, a hike, museum, getting ice cream and tossing a frisbee, visiting the zoo, and so forth.
