About Me
I'm pretty much a regular guy, and I'm really straightforward, so please be as well. I don't know if that makes me "unique", but it seems that some people really appreciate it, and others are put off by it. I figure the honest people like it, and the dishonest ones are uncomfortable with the reflection. Such is life, I suppose. I'm pretty laid back and don't go for a lot of drama.
I grew up out West, in a small town in the beautiful mountains and canyons of Northern New Mexico. We had long, hard winters and beautiful summers, but I learned to love playing in the outdoors, and feel blessed for the experience. I spent (mis-spent???) my youth riding motorcycles (Dirt and Street), shooting (I just love Clay Sports - Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays), fishing, hunting, and spending as much time as I could outdoors in the summer/spring/fall and skiing (made my living at that for a while) and skating (believe or not we actually did play hockey in NM) in the winter. I lived in South Carolina for 6 years before moving to Bucks, and I really loved it there. I have also lived in a number of different places here and overseas when I was in the Army.
Now, I work in Princeton, but I very much prefer living here in Bucks to the thought of living in NJ. Just my preference I guess. I do like the small town feel of the Doylestown area, and having those "city things? close by if the mood strikes me.
I still try to ride, shoot, hunt, and fish when I can, but I'm new to Bucks County and still trying to figure out where/how (and with whom) to fill my off-time with similar activities.
I had some medical issues last year that really opened my eyes to living life as fully as I can. I'm fine now, but I won't go back there.
As far as music goes, I tend to prefer raw, hard-bitten blues bands and wild, alternative Texas honky-tonk country music(non-AM/FM) , but I'll enjoy almost anything else in measured doses as long as it's live.
Really just kind of looking to spend some time with a nice lady who can help me get my feet on the ground (activity-wise - Don't worry, I'm not looking for someone to support me, I've supported myself since I was 15), and who is bold enough to see where that leads.
I stood tall and raised my own kids (now 23 & 26) by myself, and now that they are out there, blazing their own trails in the world, I'm just looking to have some time getting to know someone who can demonstrate that she appreciates being treated well by reciprocating the same. I'm no stranger to both the good and bad sides of relationships, but I know what works and what doesn't. Hopefully the good Lord will see fit for me to try again someday.
First Date
That all-critical first date always seems to be the one that everyone gets all wrapped around the axle worrying about, so maybe it's best to just keep it simple. Maybe we could just go for a walk along the river and talk about each other's hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Or it sounds fun to spend an afternoon of each of us trying out one of the other's favorite hobbies. I'm always open to learning new activities, and in seeing someone's first reactions to one of mine.
Or we could just go for a motorcycle ride with you as the "local guide" who can show me the scenic places you are fond of.
UnkaDave has 2 roses that can be sent.
