About Me
Thomas Jefferson said "Question with boldness even the existence of God; for if there be one, he would appreciate more the homage of reason than that of blind folded faith." I've poured over these words, and the words of other great thinkers, for what seems an undue portion of my life when taking into consideration the brevity of my life thus far; But the older I get and the more composite a framework my perspective becomes (as a result, no doubt, of cultivating experience in combination with intelligence) I find important lessons in our late President's words. Question everything; to include that which would be seemingly beyond our ability to question. Question that which we cannot quantify and that which our intellect has only begun, if it has at all, to manifest in our reality. Queston yourself, your loves, your hatreds, all that you trust and all that you don't.This has become the truth for me... the reality that nothing can breath the essence of reality until tested as fiction.
So who am I? I'm a blues musician, I'm a student of philosophy, I'm a published poet, I'm a former quarterback, a military veteran, and an amatuer novelist... and all by the ripe old age of 22. I don't believe in wasting time. This doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a lazy weekend with friends, drinking beer at the lake or a secluded weekend of movie watching on the couch with a loved one as much as the next person... but these are not moments wasted. I don't believe in being idle or without purpose... and this is because I question, with boldness, even the existence of God, and by doing so I recognize that the moments I live now may very well be the only ones I will ever experience.
Who am I looking for? I don't know. How could I? We haven't met. At the moment I'm just looking to meet people. People who like conversations about interesting things and can appreciate a very, very dry sense of humor... and maybe a girl who likes the Rolling Stones (greatest band of all time).
I am a guitar player and singer/songwriter. I love music about as much as anything else. The Stones (obviously), The Who, The Beatles, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Th Killers, Say Anything, Ray LaMontagne, Bob Dylan, The Wallflowers, City and Colour, Counting Crows, The Matthew Good Band, Gin Blossoms, Amos Lee, Hot Water Music, Ben Nichols and Conor Oberst to name a few... I like hip hop too... lyrical hip hop (Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco)...
I don't what else to say really. I work full time, go to school full time and do a lot of other things part time. After I graduate I plan to join the Peace Corps to teach children in Africa, and then come back do some post grad work and hopefully teach college. Anyhooo... message me if you dare.
First Date
Something fun... interesting... out of the ordinary... the ordinary usually bores me so I'd probably just play it by ear honestly... but it would certainly be fun.
