I'll admit, this is a bit of a lark. Yet, as they say, "nothing ventured, nothing gained". I'll also admit, I work a bit too much (the proverbial "peak earning years") and don't have --or make-- the time for social connections. Hence, I'll throw myself into the fishin' pond. I'm reasonably intelligent, fairly well read, passably articulate, and good humored. I play guitar, sing, have done some acting (my Walter Mitty life), and do well in social outings. Golf is more a walk in nature than a competitive event; motorcycle rides are free-spirited; and I work out religiously. I stay active, but like my down time too. Am involved with my teenage son--to the extent his social calendar permits (I'm increasingly an afterthought). So, why this? Simply wish to broaden my scope of friends and meet a few new ones. It's simply more enjoyable sometimes to explore things with two sets of eyes, two perspectives, and hopefully, a shared smile.

First date? Put simply, just visit over that beverage. Let's face it. First impressions, though hardly all-inclusive--can give you a good glimpse into the world of the other. Do they talk? Do they talk too much? Do they listen? Are they stuck in the past? Are they funny? Can they laugh? Can they laugh at themselves? Do they think I'm funny? Well....you get the picture. I will say this: one of my fondest friendships started off with preconceived doubts. Lesson #436: some things are best measured over time.
