I am a retired educator who taught English at the high school and junior college levels. I was married for 36 years until my wife succumbed to cancer. During our marriage we traveled extensively all over western Europe, Canada, and Mexico. We also visited all 48 contiguous states.

Over the years I have collected original oil paintings from Europe and the U.S. I also have a modest collection of art glass and reverse painted lamp shades. I have a small collection of automatic musical instruments including a reproducing grand piano, an orchestrion that simulates a 10 piece orchestra , and a street organ. I have performed with the street organ at state fairs in Texas, Kansas, and Illinois. In addition, I performed in a German restaurant/bar in the East Village area of Manhattan and at Coney Island. I have performed at numerous amusement parks and street festivals all over the Mid West.

I enjoy eating well prepared food at home and in ethnic restaurants. I do not like chain restaurant food. I enjoy classical music and music of the 50s,60s,and 70s. I enjoy Broadway shows, some opera, and symphony performances. I enjoy character based movies over action movies. I like to read newspapers, magazines and books both fiction and non fiction. I subscribe to The Nation, Intelligence Report, and the New York Times newspaper. I read 20 to 25 books a year. I find television to be a boring source of entertainment.

I maintain a healthy low fat, low salt, and low sugar diet. I walk 5 to 8 miles every day all year long. My doctor tells me I have the body of someone 10 years younger than I am.

I am looking for someone with whom I could travel, someone who hopefully would share my interest in my hobby group. I would also like to find someone who eats a healthy diet and does some kind of exercise. in other words, I am looking for someone who maintains a healthy life style.

I like most people have flaws. I would like to think that they are not serious in nature, but that is for others to judge. For example some people including my dead wife say that I am a tightwad. I am careful about how I spend my money. I object to paying $75 for a theater ticket to a show that I may or may not like. On the other hand I have spent a great deal of money to buy an original oil painting. I do tend to be judgmental about some human behaviors and or activities; however, most people I have met tend to be judgmental about people or things to which they object. On the other hand, I do have some good points. I nursed my mother when she was dying of cancer, and I did the same with my wife who was sick for two years before she died. I respect differences in other human beings, and I try very hard not to prejudge people. I cry at certain movies where people overcome great odds. I have cried at significant historical events like M.l.Kings "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington.
