One of my favorite things to do involves snow, waxless skis, a few dogs, a fanny pack (stocked with red wine, brie, granny smiths and pepperoni sticks) and 1-10 other funny happy people to share it with. A natural hotsprings at the end of the trail is optional, but definitely a bonus. My favorite TV show is House (I love a good medical mystery, plus the guy cracks me up), and Frasier is a close second.
I'm kind of a study in contrasts. I went from a very left-brained career to one involving more right brain. I'd like to think that makes me more balanced, but it's up for debate. When I bought a dirtbike I was also taking ballroom dancing lessons and loving both. I get a rush from mountain biking and skiing, but I also like to hang out in a hammock and just be. Not that I have much time for that lately. The aforementioned career transition is now complete, and I am busy creating opportunities for myself and shaping my future as I go, taking cues from the Universe whenever I'm open enough to receive them. One of those cues seems to be that I've been focused on school long enough, and it's time to carve out a life again. Of course, there always must be time for learning new things: that never stops.

A really fantastic first date might involve one of my favorite things to do (see above), but more realistically we should probably meet first for coffee or hot chocolate in a cozy cafe. Biking there together on a nice day works even better. I never understood why people would choose to go see a movie for a first date -- how do you get to know someone in a place where you're likely to be shushed (and rightly so)? An outdoor concert would be way better. I most like meeting people in an active venue, and prefer it to dinner. Unless dinner is followed by cruising through an interesting shop. Fall is my favorite season, and it would be terrific to meet someone new who would also enjoy chasing through the leaves. But back to music: I like rock and metal, and since I mellowed out a little, I now appreciate some classical too. I'm a big fan of classic rock from the late 60's on up, and mostly listen to kexp.org. Share your favorites with me -- I love discovering new music. I will confess though that I've never been a fan of jazz. It makes no sense to me, and sounds like either each band member is playing a different song at the same time or they're all just tuning their instruments. No saxophones for me -- give me an adrenaline-pumping guitar riff and drums any day. Or even dueling banjos.
