I have found, more and more, that Americans are lousy at being in relationships. While watching Dead Poets Society a little while ago, I noticed a distinct difference in photographs taken back in the early 1900's...no one smiles. Contrasted by the fact that nowadays, in EVERY picture, people are smiling. I remember reading a quote once that said, "Even in laughter, the heart may ache." I definitely think our society is aching for true connected relationships, but unwillingly to pay the price to get it.

I have been, and always will be, desirous of connecting on a deep level. This comes through a variety of avenues, from the surface to the deep. Maybe one day I will meet someone who wants the same....
