I'm basically a down-to-earth, unpretentious guy with an interest in artistic and intellectual things and a strong social conscience. I'm college educated (Columbia U. in NYC). I like to read novels and books about social and urban history, I'm especially interested in the history of specific NYC neighborhoods, especially working class neighborhoods in Manhattan. I also like to wander around town (during my free time) doing street photography and making photographs of historic buildings. I enjoy hanging out with friends in cafes and talking about movies, books, art, current events, social issues, cultural history, etc. I value strong friendships or relationships over a long period of time. (I'm not into casual, short-term affairs). I enjoy hiking and biking. I also like to travel; currently I prefer short trips, but have been to most of Europe and parts of Asia -- India, Burma, Singapore, etc. I've been a widely published photojournalist for 12 years (working on assignment for major publications/news services) and currently am trying to establish myself in film/video production and as an independent filmmaker. (One of my short films just premiered at respected NYC film festival). My favorite filmmakers at the moment are (early) Martin Scorsese and Abel Ferrara, but I've always like David Lynch and Terrence Malick. When I am not working in film/video, I teach ESL (English as a second language) at inner city schools. I have a nice spacious apartment in a pleasant, leafy neighborhood in northern Manhattan. As far as music is concerned, I like classic rock, alternative, grunge, blues and world. (My favorite rock band is probably Alice in Chains). I am seeking a slightly off-beat, down-to-earth, creatively oriented woman, preferably with nice hips.

For a first date I would probably want to go to a nice, atmospheric cafe and have a coffee or, if the lady prefers, a cool, quiet bar where the two of us could talk and try to get to know each other a little better.
