About Me
I just recently moved to Findlay eliminating a 600 mile commute a week so I've gained 10 extra hours to explore aspects of my life I've not focused on for awhile. I am having so much fun connecting with my "old" self and exploring who my "new" self might be! I've been dancing alot--even if it is by myself right now in my kitchen as I make dinner. I'm on a quest to find the best cup of coffee in town on Saturday mornings. And I recently bought some canvases and paint to see what kind of painter I might be. I'm starting the second half of my life and loving every minute of it.
I love to travel and explore new cities. It's great fun--getting a map of the city, a bottle of water, and wandering through it, stopping in out-of-the-way places for a drink or lunch, finding where the locals go for dinner, live music and dancing. I try to take 2 vacations a year to someplace I've never been before to see if I'd like to move there in a few years. I'm not totally committed to staying in Ohio or anyplace where there's snow and ice. Been here for too many years in winter and am more than ready to trade it for some other kind of weather for awhile.
I'm pretty self-sufficient (been divorced 15 years) and like the same in a guy. That's not to say that I would not like to be in a close relationship--just that I don't NEED to be, I WANT to be. I am capable of loving unconditionally and can honestly say I've never tried to change who a person is to meet my definition of who they should be. You accept someone as they are. If they want to change, you provide the opportunities and sounding board to make that happen. Otherwise, you love them as they are.
I'm fairly progressive in my political beliefs and have a hard time being around anyone who is a member of the religious right. I'm usually a pretty non-judgmental person, but things have gotten so polarized in the political realm that it's like speaking to a different species. I've also come to the decision that I don't believe in the god that most Americans do. However, if you are looking to engage your spiritual self, I would love to talk. Oh, and I'm not into sports at all. If you are that's okay (unless you're a rabid Buckeye fan), but it's not something I'll participate in with you.
If you're an intelligent, articulate guy with a killer sense of humor who enjoys art, live music, imported beers and dry red wines, I'd love to meet you. I'm looking for someone who wants to connect emotionally and intellectually before physically. Don't get me wrong, the physical part of a relationship is wonderful. But it's so much better when the other two are strong. Life is too short to be without someone you love.
First Date
I think too many people make up their minds one way or another on the first date. And that's too bad. Why don't we try talking on the phone a couple of weeks prior to that first date so that we know something about each other before we meet face-to-face. By that time, we've gotten over some of the uncomfortableness. A perfect "date" for me is to sit sideways in a booth with my feet up, sip a few beers, and get to know one another.
