I can be described as an intense, analytical, down-to-earth, intelligent, athletic, egalitarian / observant mensch (Camp Ramah was a major influence) who spends his free time volunteering in Jewish communal activities, pursuing active adventures (both locally and afar), and working to improve himself and the world. A typical Upper West Sider who came here for school and never left, listens to NPR, reads the New York Times (mostly online), enjoys discussing public policy, prefers dinner at Zen Palate, Ozu or Candle Cafe and dessert at Cafe Edgar, movies, long walks in Riverside and Central Parks on Shabbat and getting out of the city on Sundays to go hiking, rafting or canoeing. Vacations are times to explore new places (National Parks, European cities, Patagonia, etc.), visit Israel and occassionally take a class (such as photography, sailing or driving school) and certainly not to sit still all day (something to conteract my sitting at a desk staring at a computer most days). I have more interests than time and wish I needed less sleep each night so that I could pursue them (I envy teachers who have their summers free!).

A day hiking. Usually in the course of a few hours hiking you can get to know each other fairly well, will have gotten some exercise, and will have gotten to spend some time outdoors in a "green" place. Or, just a cup of "coffee" hanging out.
