I'm new to this website and am suddenly at a loss for words when asked to describe myself. I've lived in D.C. about six years in a studio apartment (it's cute, but very small!). I had a short stint in the suburbs of Northern VA after I graduated college and quickly decided that I am a city girl at heart and find the suburbs slightly depressing. I love going to art museums and galleries in my free time. I think one of the great things about D.C. is the plethora of free museums. I also enjoy seeing films and plays, even though lately I haven't gone nearly as much as I would like. E Street Cinema and the Uptown theater are my favorite movie venues. I prefer independent films over huge blockbusters. Music is something I enjoy as well and love seeing bands at 9:30 Club and the Blackcat. I like almost any type of music with the exception of bluegrass, country or jazz (I have friends who love going to jazz shows and I've tried to get into it, but just can't). I also love, love, love '80's music, such as New Order, Joy Division, Prince, Madonna (back then...now not so much), REM, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnyman. As far as music from this decade I like Kings of Leon, Bon Iver, Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand, Radiohead, Beck and yes Lady Gaga. I have high hopes of going to graduate school for creative writing, but haven't gotten there yet. I would love to write books and actually have them published someday. I've recently started keeping a journal and have found it to be very therapeutic. Ever since I was little I was interested in the arts. I took several studio art classes as well as writing classes in college and am trying to get back on that wavelength. So basically I'm still trying to figure out how to make a living doing something I love.

Hmmm...what do I like doing on a first date? This is a difficult one. I'm pretty laid back and enjoy most anything as long as it doesn't involve sports (either playing or watching) or extreme outdoor activity. Meeting up for a drink or dinner is great as is walking around downtown and possibly checking out a new art exhibit or band or catching a movie.
