Originally I had checked the option of "Email/chat" and probably because I was a little hesitant to try an online dating site. I did email and chat with a few nice people but I would like to see if maybe I could get off the bench and get in the game, so to speak.

I could go on about what I do and like.. but really I'm pretty typical for a middle aged guy. Yea, I said it... and why not? I'm not in denial, I'm a grandpa! :)
I'll put some pictures on here and just say that I'm not a person that goes out a lot but looking for some inspiration to get out a little. I consider myself laid back and an information junkie. I like to talk about current events and topics of the day. I read some but surf for most of my current event information.
I do like local auto racing but not an every week addict. I also play some poker, and also follow a couple local bands as they play around town.
I'm in Kansas and like to believe that distance is just a number, but so is Time and it sometimes is a shrinking number so I'm flexible but probably looking within 25 miles of Shawnee/Lenexa/Olathe.

I totally agree that the first date should be more of a meeting. When you're "shopping" by pictures and self authored descriptions you're bound to have some miscommunications by no fault of either. If someone can't accept that there's just no chemistry, then right there they've only confirmed the obvious. I can be friends with almost anyone and maybe we can laugh about it later, or not, but no sense feeling bound to a long drawn out evening. I mean really, if the night doesnt seem over way too soon, then why keep plodding?
