About Me
I love to meet new people and try new experiences. I value wit, intelligence, the ability to laugh at yourself, kindness, sincerity, honesty, empathy, reciprocal conversation, a fun-loving nature and of course, killer nunchuck skills.
After much soul-searching and a whole lot of schooling, I work in a profession that I love and I hope that you do too. It's terrible to spend so much of your time doing something you don't enjoy. Of course I'm still paying off that schooling, but it's an investment in the future, right? Right?
I've recently taken up running and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. I'm working towards being healthier all the time, but I don't like to deprive myself of all calorie-laden pleasures like wine and chocolate. And eggs benedict.
My sense of humour is dry and irreverent. If you're really serious, then we won't get along. Some of my favourite shows are Veronica Mars, Buffy, True Blood, The Hour, and Chelsea Lately. Glee might be my new favourite.
I have a weakness for nature shows, reality shows about dancing, and nice hands. I tend towards those with higher education, but I value street smarts as well. Really, I'm just looking for some intelligent conversation. I need a connection that's mental as well as physical and emotional.
I love music, both live and through my iPod. I would like to get back into seeing more live music. I'm a child of the 90's, so of course I love alternative, but I also love classical, spanish guitar, showtunes, reggae, riddim, ska, etc. Not so much into country and jazz.
I have a lot of good friends, most of whom I've collected through various schools from kindergarten on up, and I go to great lengths to keep in contact with them. I like nothing better than an evening with friends laughing so hard my stomach hurts.
I don't like people who are pretentious, but I won't arrest my development of language either. I work with kids every day; it's nice to have some adult conversation at the end of it:)
I don't like to play games. Unless that game is Trivial Pursuit. Or Catchphrase. Or Scene It. Then I'll kick your ass.
I love to travel and like nothing better than planning trips. I prefer the sight-seeing and as-close-to-realistic-as-possible experience as opposed to the pre-packaged stuff (though I also like to be pampered and clean). I eat street meat of all kinds and in all places.
Please look up Occupational Therapist before asking me what it is. Wikipedia actually has a pretty good definition. I do not help people find jobs.
One last thing to give you an idea about myself. I was in New York in August for 4 days visiting a friend. This is what I did:
- walked around Little Italy looking for the best cannoli - bought a "Coach" purse in a back room in Chinatown - went to the Museum of Modern Art (on the free Friday night) - played ping pong with about 15 people for hours at a bar - where you get one shot and if you miss your turn you're out - like non-musical musical chairs, but with ping pong, and beer - went to Harlem for a street festival - walked around Brooklyn and went to the market, supposedly the best pizzeria in NYC, and walked over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan - went to a party hosted by a friend where I knew 2 people - went shopping at Skechers, Macy's, and H&M - saw "In the Heights", an amazing Broadway musical with a soundtrack I cannot get out of my head or off my iPod - went to the Museum of Natural History - stopped at a sample sale - watched "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" with hundreds of people in Bryant Park - went to Zabar's Deli for an awesome corned beef and pastrami sandwich and some fresh mozzarella cheese - had birthday drinks in my friend's neighbourhood pub in Queens - took the subway so much someone asked me for directions - walked so much my feet were swollen
If any of this piques your interest, then let me know. If I don't message you back, it's likely for one of the following reasons: a) I'm busy and haven't had a chance to compose an appropriate response b) Your message to me was, "Hey, how's it going?" and your 2-line profile provided little further insight into your personality c) I'm just not that into you.
