This year I made boxes for my deck and I grow fresh herbs (oregano, basil, chives, etc) I was taught how to cook/bake almost before I could walk, now I am teaching my kids, they are amazed that none of their friends know how to cook. I also grow a lot of my own fruit (rhubarb, strawberries, black raspberries, apples, cherries, pears, peaches and 6 walnut trees). I also have a regular garden that I try to maintain. Lol now you might see why I don’t go out much, there is always something to do around the place and once I get home I prefer to work around the house, it could be as simple as cutting the grass to woodworking or rebuilding old cars . I also like to read, I have mostly Sci fi but I also have alot of westerns. I am trying to teach myself how to can food (I already freeze and dehydrate); I am also trying to teach myself how to play guitar from a DVD.

I try to live my life by four simple rules.
1. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated
2. You deserve whatever you put up with
3. Never make someone a priority, when they only make you an option.
4. If you want to do something, you will find a WAY, if you don't , you will find an excuse.

I think the worth of a person is in how they can handle problems.

I want someone who laughs easily and often, whether at herself or at me when I do something stupid. I hate washing dishes, but I will gladly vacuum and wash floors. Someone who will help me turn the housework into a playground. For example, I sewed a couple of those green scrubbies you buy for dishes into slippers. The kids and I go “skating” when we scrub the floor. To dry the floor we use an older towel, and step on it and ‘duck walk’ it dry. I would like to find someone who is willing to have the occasional soap bubble fight.

Yes I know I am childish in some ways, but the most boring people I know are the ones who think you should act your age all the time. I would rather be a grandfather that puts whoopee cushions underneath my grandchildren’s seats then be one of those people who grumble and complain all the time.

There are several things I know I need in a person
She needs to be intelligent and have common sense (not always the same)
She needs to be a loving and compassionate woman
She needs to be strong enough to back me up and shut me up when needed
She needs to be trustworthy and honorable.

It is not what you do or where you are, but whom you are with.
