Rather than state my interests as most people do here, and end up sounding like anyone with similar interests, I explain my philosophy on money. The goal being that (if you are intelligent enough) you leave my page with a greater understanding of me as an individual than if I had a traditional profile. Humans have the unique cognitive ability to see and plan for the future. What do you do with this ability? Do you live paycheck to paycheck, or do you have a plan to attain financial independence? Or have you already accomplished this?

Money is said to be unimportant along the path of happiness. However, unless you were born in a third world country, this is a fallacy. In America everything has a price, and we are born into expectations (depending on our families) for a certain level of food, clothing, and shelter. If we somehow fall below these expectations once they are established, depression ensues.

I do find money to be the least important asset, ranking below family, friends, knowledge, and wisdom. That is because unlike all the other assets we can possess, it is renewable if it somehow gets depleted. And having strong family and knowledge assets increases the ease with which we can accrue and replenish financial assets.

So while money is the least important asset, that is not to say that it is unimportant. What do you think?

First Date

Who would want to do something stuffy like dinner and a movie with a stranger they barely know well enough to consider meeting with to learn more about them? NOT ME.

In my opinion, the key to a successful first date regardless of whether or not we're good for each other is in two words: simple and fun.

For me, this often means doing things outside. Do you have a mutual interest with me in an outdoor sport such as surfing, jet skiing, snowboarding, volleyball, basketball, or soccer? Or perhaps you can get me into something I don't have a lot of experience with yet, such as kayaking or ATVing.

If I really like your profile, and whatever communication we exchange, I may suggest something slightly more traditional, such as meeting at a coffee shop. If we end up talking quite a bit before meeting, and we both have a high level of interest, I may suggest something like a picnic in the park with red wine and a delicious snack that I personally prepare for us (I used to be a Sous Chef).

Bottom line, I don't do the ultra traditional stuff, and what we do will be simple, fun, and based upon our mutual interests.
