Silly, smart, sarcastic, sometimes shy, witty, reader, writer, skier, swimmer, walker, traveler ...

I am happy and peaceful when outdoors as well as hibernating indoors for reading (Joyce Carol Oates, David Sedaris, John Irving, Carl Hiaasen, Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver) - I guess funny, serious and sad all rolled up together. I like watching movies with popcorn and hot chocolate in my hands, listening to Pandora.com and just relaxing ... a lot of people don't relax enough anymore.
I like to visit museums, art galleries, quirky gift/book shops, independent movie theaters, quiet relaxing restaurants/cafes - I don't like crowded noisy places (or very loud people for that matter).

Other stuff I like - the Blues, R&B, tea, HBO shows, dark comedies, and hanging out with friends.

The beaches and mountains are great - a little cabin on a lake with lots of privacy and a camp fire roaring is perfect.

I like to roam around places new to me and cities I don't get to often enough - Boston, NYC, San Fran, Quebec. Unlike many people I love the winter and have no desire to move to Florida or anyplace like it when I retire.

When I say I like smart guys I don't mean you have to have a Ph.D. or even a bachelor's degree. I just want to be with someone who is interested in what is going on in the world and likes to learn new things - by talking to others or reading or whatever means suits him best. Having a creative streak is a plus too, weather it is wood working, cooking, writing, whatever.

I am looking for someone who I feel comfortable with pretty quickly, who makes me laugh until my eyes tear and who can agree to disagree on some things. Someone good at compromising. Someone who has cried at least once over a really schmaltzy movie. Someone who is ready for a serious relationship once they find the right person, someone who won't run and hide from me or from themselves.
