Here is what my friends say about me: I am easy going, but a perfectionist about some things, I smile all the time, I am honest, kind, and insightful, I am a pleaser, I am energetic. They probably also say I am a little flaky at times, but they don't say it to my face. I look for the best in everything and everyone. If I don't like it and I can't change it, I can usually change my thinking about it. I have been content with the status quo the past few years- raising two great boys and working in education. I am ready to branch out a bit and include some other pursuits in my life.

I do not like shopping at the mall, NASCAR, or putting on airs. I refuse to keep up with the Joneses. (I used to be a Jones.) I do not watch much TV. (Don't have cable or satellite). I love to read and can browse in a bookstore for hours. I have a few close friends I enjoy meeting for dinner or getting together for a cookout. I spend time at my family's place at the lake. Although I do not hang out in bars, I do like to dance. Since I moved back to the city, I don't have opportunity to enjoy gardening like I did in the country. I am content in the city, but I would really like to get back to the country.

Okay, I will be honest and say I am a workaholic. When I do things it has to be 110%. So, beyond my career and spending time with my children and friends, I haven't made much time for other pursuits. In the past I spent a lot of time as a board member and home builder for a non-profit organization. I have summers off and usually visit family in the hill country or friends at the beach. I am financially conservative or I would really enjoy more elaborate trips.

I have to say again that I am a big reader. I enjoy historical fiction, mysteries, Utopian and dystopia fiction. I enjoy several modern musicians, such as Three Doors and, Nickelback, the Fray, and Jason Moraz. I also like contemporary Christian music. Mostly though, I listen to Texas artist like Jimmy LaFave, Bugs Henderson, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Jr., and the Flatlanders. I also listen to singer songwriters like John Prine and James Taylor.

PS- My profile says I am undecided/open about children. That does not mean I want to give birth to more children. That just means I want the ones I already have.

I think the first date should be in a relaxing environment where you can talk and get to know each other better. I say better, because I would not go on a first date with someone if I had not spoken with him enough to get a feel for who he was. I would want each of us to feel comfortable and without pressure. Overdoing compliments and coming on strong make me feel uncomfortable on a first date. I am very genuine and I relate to people who are also genuine. I want to spend this time getting to know who you are, not what you have. My ideal first date would end with me very anxious for a second date.
