Hi, I’m Ames. I’m a second year law student at Berkeley. I just graduated from Oxford University last year and I'm really excited to be back in California. I'm enjoying law school, in particular my trial advocacy classes. When I finish school I'd like to practice law as a trial attorney, probably starting out in criminal practice to get some trial experience.

I am pretty shy at times but definitely have an outgoing, fun side around the right people. I love to laugh and appreciate a sharp wit. My main hobbies are martial arts training and watching anime. I am very honest and loyal to the people I care about, maybe to a fault. I love arguing - it's the best way for me to learn about new things and about the people I'm arguing with. That said, I don't like fighting, especially with the people I care about.

I'm looking for a woman who is energetic, intelligent, and passionate. Outgoing and enthusiastic people bring out the best in me. I feel that honesty, kindness and an eagerness to learn about one another are essential to a relationship. I am a very physical person, so I need someone warm and compassionate. My ideal woman would be able to switch between a fun, silly girl, and a sophisticated, serious woman depending on the situation so that we can act like kids when possible, and be serious when we have to. When I’m with her, even the most mundane, everyday activities are enjoyable.

my job:
Aside from being a law student, I do some IT work for a law firm, as well as some work for a trial consulting group. Both of my jobs are on a contract basis - so I don't work regular hours, just when they need me. It gives me the flexibility to put my studies first.

Favorite places:
Outside the US: I really like the United Kingdom, China, Italy, Germany, and Mexico. I would love to go to Japan someday. Inside the US: Salt Lake City, Utah; Pensacola, Florida; Alabama and Georgia - I have relatives there; and California!!

favorite things:
I love listening to music and singing in the car. I play classical piano. I'll pretty much listen to anything other than most rap and most country. As for TV, anime tops the list. Neon Genesis Evangelion is my favorite. I do watch a fair bit of American television as well: House, Heroes, Lost, 24, West Wing, and Firefly are all great shows, just to name a few. Food: Meat. I am a carnivore.

I think the last things I read, outside of school books, were Twilight (I admit it) and Rousseau's Dog. Favorites: Dune, American Shaolin, The Prince, The Catcher in the Rye, Art of War, Harry Potter

my pet:
I love animals. I had lots of animals growing up, but at the moment I have just one cat living with me in my apartment. She is lots of fun and very cute!

I would want a first date to center around having a conversation that allows both me and my date to get to know each other. Maybe getting coffee, grabbing a drink, or even just taking a walk somewhere. Especially a first date between people who have met online - I think it's crucial to have an opportunity right at the outset to find out who the other person really is in person. I wouldn't want to do something too distracting for a first date, like a movie, because then the focus is not on one another. Once we decide that we actually like each other in reality, then we should go see movies and do more inventive things for dates!
